Today is #nationalhorseday Letâs show some love to our equine residents and alumni đ
Thanks to our ride organizer Donna DeMuth Johnson for a great time! Here are this yearâs photos.
Cracker Box Palace at Historic Alasa Farm
Every donation we receive benefits every one of our 200 farm animals by:
- providing specialized care
- providing a variety of quality food
- providing vet care and needed medications
- providing the staff needed to care for them every day
- providing the means to rehabilitate and find forever homes for our adoptable animals
This year, we were able to take in 50 new animals - most of them were being severely neglected. We have rehomed a few of those and are still rehabilitating others.
Your donation today helps us continue the important work we are doing in the community.

A donor recently told us they give financially to help us provide âa safety net for neglected and abused farm animals.â
This couldnât be more appreciated than it is this week as we took in 2 very young goats who were about to be culled due to unconfirmed illness. Our veterinarian decided their lives were worth saving and called Cracker Box Palace.
Placed into quarantine, they are already getting the kind of specialized care they need, and we are watching them closely.
We love being a safety net for these sweet creatures and we so appreciate our donors who make this possible!!
đŽ Week 1 of Horse Camp wraps up today with a pizza party, a t-shirt craft, and special presentations. What a fun and fulfilling week for our camp counselors and campers!
Itâs quite the experience for both when a child goes from being nervous around horses to one who doesnât want to stop riding.
(Horse Camp also includes learning how to drive a cart)
We have 2-3 openings left for next week (Week 2) and several for Week 3 August 15-19.

Have you met our new pot-bellied pigs? We acquired 4 through a cruelty case, which became 5 after the baby was born (pics coming soon!) We LOVE providing a safe and nurturing home for them! You can help us care for them this summer.
Two memorable things school children learned last week during the hayride part of their farm tour:
1 - Pigs need mud the same way we need sunscreen⊠and what child doesnât like to play in the mud! đ
2 - We absolutely can accommodate children in wheelchairs and gave one kindergartner his first hayride ever! đđŒ
We love our job!!
Our Tour Guide, Sonia, helped 45 kindergartners from Wayne Central SD safely feed and pet farm animals this week!
