27 golden retrievers, 20 puppies and 7 adults, were rescued from a residence in Hopkinton, Rhode Island. They were found in "horrendous" conditions, and taken into custody by the Rhode Island Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

*There is a Facebook group called Puppy Mill Free Rhode Island aka Bailing Out Benji. They're a great group and have held incredible protests. Journalist probably just got us confused 🤷

I just wanna remind people that it's really easy to be angry with people who buy these dogs because it's seen as them continuing the practice...but these people, they go in and they see these innocent puppies, stuck in a box in a store, and they just wanna sn**ch 'em up and love 'em and make sure they're comfortable and they're safe. Then that little abused and mistreated puppy dies or transmits an illness and kills their other dog... The abuse and predation and trauma these innocent pups experience in such a short time is completely horrific. Purchasing from these places GENUINELY continues the suffering, but the people that do... they're seeing this one innocent life and they're wanting to love it and make sure it's safe and okay. F****** s*** is untenable and just so, so incredibly heartbreaking.

If you look at the cover photo on this page, every single one of those dogs came from that store and they suffered, immensely, as did the people who loved them. Y'all don't deserve this. These little puppies don't deserve this. And I am so, so sorry.

Rest in Peace.

The level of pain and the level of suffering genuinely feels untenable sometimes. These pups don't deserve this and the people that buy them and love them and try desperately to save them, they don't deserve this either.

Scott Bergantino withdrew his kennel license renewal application. This doesn't change his ability to continue selling dogs, but it does prevent him from breeding etc. Definite win!

Here's another reason we need you to testify tonight! These pups (and people) need advocacy!

Nobody who buys from this place plans to support anything this ugly. They just want a cute dog. The genuine difficulty and pain that follows is pretty horrible....
