I like to take my dogs on two different kinds of walks. One is more structured where they have to heal next to me by my side. I pretty much let them know when they can go sniff and p*e and stuff by telling them break or free, then there’s the unstructured….Totally free except long line/and/or Ecollar, and allowing to smell the environment and explore which helps them build confidence in their own surroundings and I’ll here and there throw ambut overall it’s allowing them to just “be”and sniff and hunt and explore. I encourage you to do that with your dogs. If we’re always putting too much structure/commands on them it actually inhibits them from building confidence in their surroundings.There needs to be a good balance like everything else. I figured the dishes can wait till tonight when it’s dark for me so Enjoy the days while we have them and the time with your dogs explore go to a different place. Let them sniff different smells and have fun. 🐾🐶🐾
** This post is not asking for opinions on ecollar whatever works for your dog and you. It’s about enriching your dog’s life and giving them opportunities to sniff and build confidence in their environment.

Maverick had his second private session with me at Niagara K9 Sunday and he’s starting grow some confidence and getting the idea of the game of Nosework. We were able to get him to walk through the big ladder which at first, he didn’t even want to touch and he even went onto the place to search for the odor which is really so good for him. He was afraid to touch different things etc. He even is allowing me to pet him and I could just see the difference from day one. I’m so happy for him and proud of him and looking forward to this Sunday and see what obstacles we can work on. Good boy Maverick 🐾💜🐾

After fun agility last week I had Bernie do some Nosework. He and his handler Debbie started with me a few years ago with Nosework, Obedience and Confidence Building and he didn’t miss a beat! So great to see you both 🥰🐾🐾.

Miss Willow had her first Private Nosework session with me and she had just gotten done having puppies recently so John wanted to give her a break and let have fun doing something different.
You could see in the first video she was really distracted and excited not sure what she’s there for and then the second video she was so focused on finding that odor that had primary with it which is food and she absolutely loved doing this!🐾☺️🐾

Having some fun today in fun agility at WNY Heroes. Today I had a student tell me that they feel closer bond with their dog after just a couple classes that means the world to me. 🥰 I encourage everyone to get out there with your dogs. Try something new, bond, engage with them. Have fun and connect on a different level. Do things outside of the box and outside your comfort zone. 🐾💜🐾

Check out Croy and his beautiful head snap when he catches the odor, wow!!! 😮 very cool that’s what I talk about when I say change of behavior.. it could be a head snap some might be more subtle. It could be something else. It’s about learning to read your dogs body language which takes time 🐾

Handlers helping their dogs to put two paws up to search on something that feels different to them at The Barking Lot. I thought I got a picture of Millie also but I didn’t. Nosework helps build confidence and teamwork between handler and dog. Great job everyone! 🤩
