I met an awful cute new friend today! 🥹
Heres her information from Rosebud Rescue:
“Marlee, 13 weeks, female, Cavapoo, DEAF/BLIND
Marlee is a very special pup looking for a very special home. She is 100% deaf, and visually impaired (but not completely blind). She gets excited and crashes into things, but that doesn’t slow her down at all lol. She can see things like people walking around and will follow a flashlight. At this stage in her life she’s a little too busy for us to determine whether she can be trained with sign language, or if she will need to be taught touch cues. We have some trainers with deaf/blind dog experience and an adopter would be required to enroll in a training program with one of them.
🩷 Dog/cat/people friendly
🧡 P*e pad trained
🩷 Learning about a leash
🧡 Has a play pen when left unattended
🩷 Slowly being introduced to crate training
We will only be considering homes for Marlee with smaller, playful, forgiving dogs who won’t be upset if she bumps into them. She can also live as an only dog. If there are children in the home they must be older (10+) and have an understanding of her challenges. We are requiring a fully fenced yard at this time, though we will lift that requirement if she gets more confident on leash. Marlee is VERY cute, but we need a potential adopter to understand the extra support she will need. Training, adjustment periods, and life in general are different with a deaf/blind dog. Her foster is very experienced and is prepared to keep her if we can’t find the perfect home, but we’re going to open up applications in case you think that perfect home might be you! 🥰”
Marlee was a DREAM for her groom! Her easy-going demeanor and friendly personality continue to show itself even in the grooming room. For her first real big girl groom she did AMAZING. We were able to get her coat all Matt free, perfect for this heat wave 🥵
Marlee comes with TWO free grooms from me, as sticking with one groomer will be incredibly beneficial for her specific needs to thrive 💗
