Just finished up the late shift in the shop. Never too early to fire up the first Big Buck Friday of 2024. How about this 160 class main frame 8 point with two extra sides of MASS please. Love the character of this stud from WNY. This ol boy was at least 6 if not 7 years old. Hope you have a great year 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Check out this tall boy from WNY. Is someone missing a basketball??? I think he swallowed it. His neck measures over 25” at the smallest point and over 31” at the bottom of the white patch. Just a bomber buck. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Well deer season is now officially closed…. For a large part of our clientele it is just the beginning of the next. Sounds crazy, but a ton of our die hards will start to catalog pictures of deer that made it, watching cameras for when they drop their antlers, hoping to find no dead deer in their thickets that you don’t go in during season. Starting to hinge cut trees for more bedding, cleaning up all the ash trees that have fallen, planting trees in the spring, goes right into food plots etc. next season is here. Haha. Round and round we go. Love it. Wouldn’t have any other way. Thanks again for the continuous support. The buck showcased is a WNY whitetail harvested by a young lady. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

As 2023 comes to a close. I reflect back and realize how fast this and every year flys by. I often say “I am living the dream”. I never say it to be sarcastic. After 27 years of marriage and being in business. I still love and cherish my wife…. I love my two awesome daughters….I love my career choice…. I love the Buck Stops Here Family. I thank you for the overwhelming support. These awesome whitetails are all from WNY. We completed these guys months ago. I always have a pile of critters to share. Happy New Years Eve! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

For the final Big Buck Friday of 2023…. We have a slammer for you. This WNY monarch grosses in the neighborhood of 175”. Very respectable neighborhood. Haha. He is a 10 point mainframe with matching flyers off the G2’s. His end spot is on a double deer floor pedestal. I will post in a day or two. Have a great day. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Merry Christmas to The Buck Stops here family. I hope everyone has a great day with their family. The buck below is a WNY whitetail. Who says 8 points or better. This is a giant 7 point. Who could pass on this guy? No me. So I urge you again with the start of the holiday hunt tomorrow. Some of these big bucks are dropping their antlers. Last year one of my clients harvested what he thought was a big doe on the last day of the season. Turned out to be a giant buck that shed already. The bases were the size of a beer can. So be safe. So it is a wrap for the 2023 muzzleloader season…… wait wait. Still have a few more days of our never ending gun season with the holiday hunt. I urge you moving forward with the late season hunting. Be a conservationist first and a hunter second. Some of these bucks are dropping their antlers and if you want to see more mature deer like the on pictured below from WNY, make sure of your target. Make sure you are not shooting a 130 class buck that has lost his antlers. Have a great Wednesday. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸. Correction on the terminology… the holiday hunt is muzzleloader, bow, crossbow. Check out the beautiful graining in the antlers of this Big Buck Friday candidate. This WNY mainframe 8 point antlers looks as if it was sculpted out of candle wax. Love the zip zag brow and the bladed G2 on this 140” class buck. The deer gods were showing off when they created this awesome buck. Have a great day. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

This beautiful whitetail was harvested by a young lady in WNY. Over the years we have seen tons antlers tips lodged under the skin when we skin deer….. but this one tops them all.. This antler tip is over 2 1/2” long and was broke off in the back of this deer eye orbit. We saved it a put it back in place when we mounted it. Amazingly tough animals. Have a great Sunday. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Some of the whitetails showcased for Big Buck Friday, start with a lot of work, restraint, and certainly some luck. Work begins with trimming of stands, grooming lanes, planting trees, food plots, planting switch grass etc. The restraint part begins with passing young bucks, hunting when the wind is right and waiting for the right shot. Luck, starts with being in the right spot when your target buck is on his feet and lucky that he was able to avoid all the other hunters. This exactly what this 6 1/2 year old, 25” neck, 160 class, WNY whitetail was able to do. Also this hunter, does all the things mentioned above. Definitely a well deserved deer. These three WNY whitetails are grouped together to illustrate the difference of cape damage. First deer is near flawless, second has a few broke hairs down by the brisket. Third one is an absolute battle axe that has a combination of fighting scars, old arrow holes, antlers punctures and some ticks spots. All in all. Check out the tip to tip on this cool WNY Whitetail. Sorry, been away from I pad for a few days. It has been crazy with the start of crossbow and the rut kicking in. Hope everyone is doing well. We had a client come in with a buck to mount and said their camp harvested 7 eight point bucks on Saturday. Ever even heard of that success with gun camp. Anyone else have anything like that ever??? With this cold front coming in, things are about to explode in the deer woods. Although you wouldn’t know it on our end, as we already have a pile of 140-150 class deer to represent Big Buck Friday for next year. Todays beast grosses 157” and is nearly perfect with only 3 inches of deductions. This WNY stud has it all…. Tall, great spread, long beams and good mass, no broken tines. Just a beauty. So who wants to join in the discussion. My client picked up his double deer mount for his 2022 harvest from NY yesterday. We started talking about how often do you wash your hunting clothes, scent free soaps, dead down wind sprays etc. I personally am a freak about washing clothes, spraying down, scent free showers but, I do not always follow the winds. When you hunt small wood lots I don’t feel it is as important, as the deer only have so many places they can travel but in big woods totally different. Anyone that wants to add their 2 cents it would be welcomed. Over the last 25 plus years I have had tons of conversations about this kind of stuff. Just don’t comment on anyone’s else’s comments. No arguments here please. No wrongs answers. Happy hunting. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Good luck out there. Now with archery season upon us and temps in the 70-80 degree range you are going to have to get your deer skinned and quartered ASAP. We pieced the video together 7 years ago to help make sure you make the correct cuts when you are skinning your deer for a mount. Putting a bag of ice in his chest is not going to cut it with these temps and it could ruin your cape and meat. Do not get your deer wet. Always a good idea to have a couple milk jugs frozen with water to help initially cool your deer. Also if you get your deer to a processor, do not assume that they have enough refrigeration to keep your cape. Time is of the essence when it is this warm. Hope this helps.
