Meet Karma. ❤️

She has become our longest resident here at animal control, she has been here for 71 days. Karma, who was an owner surrender and also pregnant, recently gave birth in the shelter. Thankfully, all her puppies have been adopted, but now Karma is all alone and at risk of euthanasia. This playful 3-year-old lab/pit mix is looking for her forever home. She doesn't get along with cats, but she's full of love for the right family.

For this week only, Karma's adoption fee is $50, which includes her spay, rabies, and distemper vaccines. Please help us save Karma by sharing her story and helping her find the loving home she deserves. Feel free to call us with more questions. 812-346-5725.

We want to thank Mango’s Miracles rescue for rescuing 12 of our kittens. We would also like to thank the community for adopting 52 animals from us this month!! We have adopted out 129 animals this year so far! ❤️❤️

Adoption fees cover their Rabies and FVRCP vaccines, spay/neuter, and a pain injection. We have been reaching out to rescues and other animal controls and shelters in surrounding areas, they are extremely full! If you know of any rescues that may able to help us, PLEASE TAG AND SHARE!

Please note that if you foster OR adopt from a local rescue like Mercy Rescue they are able to take in animals from us!!!

This little girl was picked up due to her dad going to jail at 10 pm last night. We unfortunately don’t know her name yet but hopefully her dad (whom we know) isn’t in jail for a long period of time and she will be back with him soon.

Do you have plans in place for your pets, in case something were to debilitate you for a day, a week, a month, or permanently?

Options to know and have readily available..

Phones now have a medical ID option and you can add your pets in the info (I do this)

Get laminated cards made Incase of an emergency carry them in your car, hang it on your fridge, attach it to your keys

Verbally tell the cops/Fire/Ems your animals info and who to contact for them.

It’s always less stressful for your pets to be with someone they know or even able to stay at their own house.

We were called out to dogs in a hot car and we picked up these three babies. The owners of the car surrendered them to us. 😭 They are Pit Bull Terriers. They are eating on their own! This article is from Animal Humane Society, and is a very informative read. While we are an Animal Control facility, we share common goals. This is Puck! Puck is an owner surrender, as his previous owner was deployed so he can no longer keep him. Puck LOVES people and other dogs, but not a fan of cats. He is a two year old, neutered, lab mix. He is a very muscular little man who loves to talk your ear off! ❤️

If you would like to come meet Puck or any of our other animals to give them another chance, please call 812-346-5725 to set up a time or visit us at 580 West County Road 350 N. North Vernon, IN 47265 on Monday through Friday between the hours of 8am-4pm. We are can also work with individuals beyond those hours and days.

Mercy Rescue and Adoption has partnered with Low Cost Spay Neuter Clinic to start transports again!

Our previous clinic no longer offers transports so we were lucky to find another transport to come to our community. This transport is out of Brownsburg, Indiana. We need everyone to understand this is a different process. Mercy has partnered with the clinic but they have different processes then what you are used to. You will contact the clinic to schedule all appointments and complete the paperwork. You will need a credit/debit card to reserve a spot. The prices are different but will be comparative.

Crate Use: Change of what we are used to!

All cats must come in the transport drop off in a carrier (you cannot come that day and get one). So you will need to borrow one from a friend or family member prior or get with us to rent one. The clinic brings dog crates but does not bring cat carriers. The week prior we will set up a time to rent them to the community for $5.00 and you will be able to pick up- when you bring them back clean and sterile you will receive your $5.00 back- drop off and pick up of crates will be at the rescue. You must have a completely clean, safe carrier and big enough for the cat to stand up and turn around in.

Transport: Pick up and Drop off

This is a one day transport: You will drop you animal off in the morning by 7 and pick up that evening at 6:30. Transport pick up and drop off will be 148 East Walnut Street, North Vernon. It is the Rail Road City Auction Building.

First Transport Dates: March 1 and March 30
