It was a rough day but we finally got them loaded and brought to the rescue. Just a little bit of persistence and eventually the toughest one gave in. Thank you to everyone that helped out.

It has been awhile but we wanted to update all the Willow followers.

She is doing well! Growing like a w**d and is heathy! Much better than she was when she came to the rescue in October. She was this little calf that lost her momma and being honest we didn't have high hopes for her. With a lot of love, medicine, blood, sweat and tears, she pulled through.

We ended up getting her a little friend to accompany her. Once we got Theo, she perked up even more. Both calves are doing well and thriving! Quite the characters at the farm.

Thank you so much to A Home For Every Horse and Purina for providing coupons to get horse feed for the rescues! Without these coupons we would not have been able to feed them this week.

Rescue is hard and costly. A lot of blood, sweat and tears goes into this daily. At least once a week, I am saying I’m shutting it down. Donations are hard to get, bills keep coming in and we are simply struggling. We do not do this to make money or get rich. At the end of every month we are in the red going in to the next. Only thing that keeps me going is the success stories! Without us, who knows where they would be.

Please consider donating, volunteering and sharing. Nothing spreads faster than the word of mouth. We need help to keep this going!

Now that the holidays are over it's time for us to get back on track!

We cannot stress this enough. Weigh your feed and go by the directions on the back of the bag of feed. Make sure you choose the correct weight of your horses and activity level.

Most of the times you are not feeding enough feed and that is why your horse is not maintaining weight or gaining weight.

"He gets a scoop."

But how much does he ACTUALLY get.....? 😅

I recommend weighing your horse's feed and feeding according to bag recommendations for body weight and activity level. These scoops are both "3 quart scoops" but even with the same feed, the weight is different. You could be under feeding, which means your horse would be lacking in essential vitamins and minerals.

Or! You could be over feeding. And that could mean that you are spending more money on feed when you could be spending that on entry fees 😎

The answer? Keep a cheap electronic kitchen food scale in your feed room. You can buy them for less than $15 on Amazon.

Is there anyone local that can use calf milk replacer? We have about a half maybe less than half a bag and we don't really want to throw it away. If someone can use it, we will gladly give it to you!

GRACIE HAS BEEN ADOPTED!!!!

Gracie is available for adoption. She is a flea bitten grey Paso Fino mare. She is around 15 years old. Around 14.1-14.2 hh (have not officially measured her).

She is UTD on everything (teeth, farrier, vaccinations and coggins)

She leads, loads, ties, stands for farrier, ect.

We believe that Gracie may have experienced some abuse in her past because she can be stand offish at times but once you work with her and give her reassurance she gets better. She definitely has some trust issues, but once she gains someones trust she will be a great horse!

We are adopting her out as a project. We do not know if she is broke to ride. From what we were told she was once a show horse but we cannot confirm this. We were also told that she is registered, we cannot confirm this either.

Will get current pics of her and updated height.

We are an all volunteer based rescue, all donations and adoption fees go directly back into the rescue to care for the other rescues at our facility.

The tack swap is tomorrow! Don’t forget to come out and shop and support your local equine friends and businesses. Also non animal related businesses as well!!

We are hoping all the vendors that signed up are still coming! We look forward to seeing you!

There will be new and used tack sellers, pony rides, a vendor bringing rabbits, boutique items, handmade items, ect. There will be lots to shop! Plan to come out even if you are not looking for horse related items, you may just find something that will interest you!

We will be there set up with some used tack and will also be accepting donations for the rescues in our care, donations are accepting and appreciate but not expected.

Unfortunately the weather has not cooperated for this coming weekend so we are going to move the tack swap to Sunday, November 19, 2023. Same place, same time. Please spread the word!

We are getting super close! It's not too late to sign up to be a vendor! We have about 40 different vendors coming. I will be reaching out to everyone next week to confirm they are still coming and collect vendor payment.

We have lots of different vendors coming with new and used tack and we also have other vendors coming with lots of other cool items. So plan to come out and shop!!

As of right now the weather is looking good for next weekend! Lets hope that it stays that way!!!

For all the Willow followers…..just a little update on her.

She stood up on her own this evening! We are tickled pink! She is gaining weight, eating grass, drinking water, and thriving! Fingers crossed she continues to get better!!
