Alright friends! We need help finding Faye a home! She showed up to our rescue as a stray. We kept her for a while to see if the owners would come looking for her but we never did find her owners. We had her checked by a vet and she is healthy! Now that we have got her weight back up, wormed, flea treatment and vaccinated, she is looking for a new home!

Faye is a roughly 1-2 year old pit unaltered female. She is a good dog. She is good with cats, other dogs and farm animals. She is house trained and crate trained, but she does love to be outside but is not an outside dog because when it’s cold she wants to come back in.

She is super sweet, non-aggressive and just loves attention.

Please help us find her a soft place to land! We cannot keep her.

Let's be honest for a minute. I have taken a couple month hiatus because honestly I was on the brink of shutting everything down.

A lot has happened in the last few months, starting with someone turning us in saying we don't feed our horses properly. Of course it was unfounded, but it really made me want to close up shop. Then my child that helped out a lot with caring for the rescues went off to college, which I am more than happy for her and want her to succeed! Getting good help is hard to find! The last straw was half of my income was reduced due to my husband being unable to work due to an accident. Things have gotten tough, but I am not asking for a pity party or anything. I refuse to let go of one thing that has made me happy over the years. I love helping horses and other animals as I can.

I do 95% of this with my own money because lets face it donations are low and have been almost non existent in all the years that I have been running this rescue. People tend to donate to the big box operations and they don't realize that they are also paying people's salaries, living expenses, etc.

I do not take any of the money that the rescue gets. I use it all for the horses. Yes, I have a few personal horses, which I pay for out of my own paycheck. The money donated, goes to only the rescue horses. They are expensive. They cost a lot of money. Anyone that owns horses knows how expensive horses are, rescue horses cost a lot more. They have a lot more problems.

Anyway if you have stayed this long and read my rant, today is Giving Tuesday! Let's bring this rescue back with a bang.

It was a rough day but we finally got them loaded and brought to the rescue. Just a little bit of persistence and eventually the toughest one gave in. Thank you to everyone that helped out.

It has been awhile but we wanted to update all the Willow followers.

She is doing well! Growing like a w**d and is heathy! Much better than she was when she came to the rescue in October. She was this little calf that lost her momma and being honest we didn't have high hopes for her. With a lot of love, medicine, blood, sweat and tears, she pulled through.

We ended up getting her a little friend to accompany her. Once we got Theo, she perked up even more. Both calves are doing well and thriving! Quite the characters at the farm.

Thank you so much to A Home For Every Horse and Purina for providing coupons to get horse feed for the rescues! Without these coupons we would not have been able to feed them this week.

Rescue is hard and costly. A lot of blood, sweat and tears goes into this daily. At least once a week, I am saying I’m shutting it down. Donations are hard to get, bills keep coming in and we are simply struggling. We do not do this to make money or get rich. At the end of every month we are in the red going in to the next. Only thing that keeps me going is the success stories! Without us, who knows where they would be.

Please consider donating, volunteering and sharing. Nothing spreads faster than the word of mouth. We need help to keep this going!

We cannot stress this enough. Weigh your feed and go by the directions on the back of the bag of feed. Make sure you choose the correct weight of your horses and activity level.

Most of the times you are not feeding enough feed and that is why your horse is not maintaining weight or gaining weight.

"He gets a scoop."

But how much does he ACTUALLY get.....? 😅

I recommend weighing your horse's feed and feeding according to bag recommendations for body weight and activity level. These scoops are both "3 quart scoops" but even with the same feed, the weight is different. You could be under feeding, which means your horse would be lacking in essential vitamins and minerals.

Or! You could be over feeding. And that could mean that you are spending more money on feed when you could be spending that on entry fees 😎

The answer? Keep a cheap electronic kitchen food scale in your feed room. You can buy them for less than $15 on Amazon.
