✨ Buttercup Post ✨

We have been fostering Buttercup for a little over a week now and it is incredible to see how well she has adjusted to the home setting! She is smaller than she looks in photos as well, making her the perfect dog for a condo or apartment setting.

She is fully potty trained and well-mannered! Buttercup loves nothing more than curling up on the couch with her foster brothers, sharing cozy moments, and engaging in a fun games of tug of war. She’s also does these hilarious bouncy little jumps that are sure to make anyone laugh! She is incredibly smart—she already knows commands like sit, paw, and come. She’s dog-friendly too, getting along wonderfully with her foster brothers! Buttercup is not reactive at all and has no issues with resource guarding food or toys. Buttercup isn’t phased if her foster brothers take a toy from her or eat her treats, making her a relaxed and easygoing companion.

When she’s not playing or snuggling, Buttercup loves to hang out in the office with me while I work. She is the best little office manager (even when she’s snoring in the back of my zoom calls). At nighttime, Buttercup is crate trained and sleeps great in her crate!

We would love for Buttercup to go to a loving home who will be patient with her! She would thrive in a home with another dog as she really seeks out companionship, but she would also be okay as the only dog. I can’t believe she hasn’t been adopted yet as she is the full package!

This weekend, we had not just one, but two amazing teams step up to help our rescue! 💙 A massive shoutout to Chicago North Shore Rugby and Chicago Women’s Rugby for their hard work and dedication.

From laundry and dishes to washing and walking dogs, organizing toys, food, and collars—they tackled it all! And, of course, they made sure Bertha (and so many of our pups) got all the love they deserve. ❤️

🌺 Meet Mahalo & Aloha 🌺

These two sweet pups were abandoned outside of CACC, left to face an uncertain future. 💔 But luck was on their side—they found safety and love here at Border Tails Rescue, where they’re getting all the care they need to thrive.

Despite everything they’ve been through, Mahalo and Aloha are full of love and resilience. They’ve already begun to warm up, enjoying cozy beds, gentle pets, and plenty of TLC. 🛏️💖 These two are proof that a little kindness can go a long way.

Playgroups are a big deal here at BTR! 🐾🐕

While some dogs thrive in co-housing, it’s not the best fit for everyone—and that’s okay! For a variety of reasons, some dogs prefer their own space but still do great in structured playgroups.

Forest (right) is one of our long-term residents who has found his sweet spot with specific canine companions and guided play sessions. 🐶✨ With the right friends and a little structure, he truly shines! 🌟

Our team is dedicated to identifying which dogs would benefit from co-housing or playgroups, making sure every pup gets the right socialization and support. 💛

Whether it’s co-housing or playgroups or single dog homes, every dog deserves a chance to thrive!

✨ Success Story Saturday ✨

This week: Brandy FKA Modelo

"In August 2023, I brought home a very anxious Brandy. Anytime my family would approach her, she would drag herself against the ground which broke our hearts everytime. However, the moment she met me at the shelter she had decided I was her human and the one to trust. She became my tail from day one, always following me from room to room.

It took a few months before she really acted like a dog. She learned a lot and opened up more because of our other two dogs. Now she’s a spoiled little diva with a bin full of sweaters. She especially loves running around our yard and stealing toys from her brother. Everytime I come home she jumps straight into my arms, always excited to see me even if I was gone 5 minutes.

I can’t thank BTR enough for giving me my Brandy baby and I know she’s also grateful for finding her amazing home."
