Our furbabies like Biscotti love coming out and playing! He even answers our volunteer when asked if he is having fun! Watch as he nods his head yes before playing with his favorite toy!

Playtime with our volunteers is always the best time of day, but nothing beats a fur ever home, never having to go back into a cage again!Our kittens will all be waiting for you tomorrow! They will all be on their best behavior, dreaming of you picking them…

Someone who volunteers for our rescue once told me that these beautiful, wonderful, amazing creatures saved his life.
He was going through a difficult time in his life. He had a cat of his own. He went on to say that to come home to a living being that had such unconditional love for him gave him purpose. To not be judged by something so gentle was a gift. To be counted on by such an independent creature taught him that everyone needs someone. As much as he rescued that amazing little kitty…that kitty rescued him right back.

Maybe you have been thinking about adopting…but it is always, just not the right time. In my experience, every kitty that has come into my life, always seemed to come at the wrong time…but it was never ever the wrong decision to adopt. Rescue pets are special. They somehow will always know in their little hearts, that you saved them. Even if sometimes – cats being cats- don’t show it. But sometimes they will…and they will lift you out of bed in the morning, and make you smile or crawl into the crevice of your arm when you are feeling sad or alone. They will celebrate with you and cheer you up too…feeling your happiness makes them happy. Not gonna lie…they will probably make you mad sometimes too…steal chicken right off your plate or wake you up in the middle of the night for some affection. They will steal your heart, fill your heart, break your heart too sometimes - as is the normal progression of life. But the joy they can bring you and memories and lessons…oh boy it is worth every minute of your life together.

ADOPTION EVENT!!!

Northport Cat Rescue Association will be having an adoption event this Saturday, August 24th from 11:00 am until 4:00 pm at Petco Commack, 30 Veterans Memorial Hwy, Commack. We would love to clear our habitats! There will be kittens galore, just waiting and dreaming of their forever homes. Look at our website at www.northportcatrescue.org for our kittens waiting for adoption, most if not all will be there! Make the end of your summer special by adding some love to your homes, and kittens or cats to your lives.

Ken and Bobby, 5-month-old bonded brothers will be there. They are once again Northport Cat Rescue Association’s kittens of the week on this week’s Patch online.

Sometimes the most beautiful and sweetest kittens or cats will get passed over time and time again. We will never understand how the universe works, when one pair of kittens will get more than one adoption application, while another will get none. These two sweethearts, have the most incredible personalities, and are simply gorgeous.

Ken is pure white with golden eyes and Bobby is white with the cutest grey smudge on his head. They have been loved and safe since the day they were born in rescue, with their Mommy, Angel, by their side. Once they were ready, they went on to the most loving foster home, filled with people and other cats too, falling in love with everyone!

They are the most loving, snuggly, fearless, silly, and social fur babies ever. They cuddle with people just as much as they do with each other. They love other cats. They love looking out the window, following fireflies with their beautiful eyes.

Since love and safety is all, they have ever known, being in our habitats has not be easy for them. They cry to come out of the habitats and will reach their paws out for visitors. They are currently at Petco Commack, curled up together, hoping someone notices them and falls in love.

We hope you read this beautiful story of friendship.

Meet Cathy and May. Cathy is a 1-2 year old BEAUTIFUL long haired tuxedo cat. She was found protecting her babies under her body, when some outdoor furniture covers were removed by a kind family. Taken into rescue, Cathy continued to nurse them and love them. All the while she was gentle and sweet with the humans that were helping her, so when she was done taking care of her babies, she went into foster care and although was shy, loved any attention she would receive. She is a gentle soul. We cannot imagine what life outside was for her, but it is clear that she guarded her babies with her life. All 6 of her beautiful babies survived and are the most amazing kittens, ready for adoption.

May…also a 1-2 year tabby, has a different story. This sweet girl was friendly on the streets and asking for help. Once she was rescued, it was discovered that she was pregnant. Sadly, all of May’s babies were still born. It was tragic. For anyone who thinks that animals don’t have emotions or grieve, it was right in front of our eyes. May was grieving. In fact, she was in a foster home with other kittens at the time, and one must have felt her pain, and curled up with her and comforted her. Our hearts broke for her.

We decided that perhaps a friend would help heal May’s heart. So, we put her in a very loving foster home with Cathy. A beautiful friendship formed, and we saw a spark come back in May’s eyes. The girls love to play with each other. They love to cuddle together. They are beyond wonderful cats, quiet and clean. We wonder if they tell each other about their past. We hope they know they have a better future ahead of them.

Cathy is super affectionate and will sit with you on your lap. May loves to be pet and will sit next to you or close by wherever you are. They are the perfect ladies, and we want them to stay together. We believe that is the least we can do for them. They both have experienced some loss, one way or another…we don’t want them to hurt anymore. Cats like sweet Maggie.

Maggie had a home for 12 years. Her family moved away and left her behind. Outside. Alone.
Next door to where poor Maggie lived, was a home that had tons of cats running everywhere in their yard.

When our Director Diana arrived, Maggie was laying in a box that was on its side. Her eye had severe trauma. She had flies all around her. She was helpless and hopeless. It was 95 degrees out and she would have to fight tons of other cats to get to some food. Diana knew at that moment, that she was the one she needed to rescue first. She was easily picked up. She looked relieved to be safe and was resting comfortably on the car ride back to rescue. She went to the vet, and received pain medicine and antibiotics and a biopsy was done. Maggie has extensive cancer of the mouth that spread. Squamous cell carcinoma. She is comfortable for the time being. She is feeling love and affection. When it is her time to go, she will not go alone. She will go with her dignity and with someone by her side.

The hearts of these people who were feeding Maggie when she was abandoned, were pure, but their minds were foggy. In somewhat of a cat hoarding situation, they thought that by just feeding the kittens and cats, they are saving them. However, by not neutering or spaying them, or getting them some much needed vet care, it can quickly become a dire situation.

To all our supporters…we can’t save them all. We know that. Heck, we can’t even save half of them or a third of them. Believe me, we all have sleepless nights thinking about the cats we cannot save. They haunt us. But we try our best to help as many as we can, and for the kittens and cats that are lucky enough to come into our rescue we will do everything we can to make them healthy, social, and loved. Some come to us on the verge of losing hope; and we will do everything in our power to give hope back to them. Every animal deserves a second chance. We will do all we can to find them their forever homes. This we promise.

Meet Grayce-a long haired female tabby and Grover, a male all grey with a fluffy tail, 4-month-old bonded siblings, finally ready for adoption at Petco Commack!They are the fluffiest and sweetest pair. Fostered with a loving family with children and even a very large dog!The first few days in our habitats are the hardest for our little fur babies, but with the help of our wonderful volunteers, they seem to be adjusting nicely. But… nothing is better than getting out of our habitats and into their forever home! Biscotti and Pignoli, 9 month old bonded brothers, Northport Cat Rescue Associations kittens of the week.

These boys were thrown out of their home as young kittens and left to fend for themselves. They stuck together, walking over to any person they would see for help, crying and reaching up to them for affection. Luckily, a wonderful lady took them in and found out that the only reason they were tossed out was because the people who had them were bored with them.

That is not something that a sweet and innocent kitten would understand. They are so well behaved, and so loving. How could they find themselves out in the elements trying to fend for themselves. They did nothing wrong and deserve better. So now that they are in our care, we will do everything we can to find them a home that will take care and love them forever. They need to stay together, because they are brothers, best friends, and the only consistency they have had in their lives.

Biscotti is a beautiful brown tabby while Pignoli is an adorable grey tabby. Their eyes are beautiful and have so much expression to them. If they could talk, I am sure they would tell us their story. They both have kindness in their hearts and souls…they show no resentment. They are special. Never have I fostered such affectionate kittens. They love to be held, in fact Pignoli will actually put his head on your shoulder while holding him like a baby. Biscotti will start purring the minute you start petting him. Pignoli is very chatty and has the cutest chirp. They follow you around like dogs. They will jump in your lap at the same time; one giving you kisses while the other is pawing at you gently for pets . They get along with cats, dogs, children, and adults. All they want is love and attention, each other and of course, a forever home.

They are currently at Petco Commack, curled up together. If you visit them and talk to them, they will come to the window and reach out their paws to you. They will simply melt your heart.

Meet best friends Frankie and Starry…both around 8 months old, Northport Cat Rescue Association kittens of the week.

Are you shy? Do you know what it feels like to meet new people and have that knot in your belly? Well if you do you are not alone- cause Frankie does too.

His siblings were adopted together- but Frankie was so scared and nervous he had to stay behind and he went to an amazing foster home.
Meanwhile, our Rescue learned about a kitten named Starry; she was being kept at a house only to be used as a “mouser”. She was so sweet she just couldn’t do her job and so, we convinced the family to surrender her to us.
She went to a wonderful foster home where she met Frankie. They became the best of friends. Starry bringing Frankie out of his shell with her charming personality, and Frankie loving Starry and showing her she was more than just a mouser. Starry finally understood what it felt like to be cared for and loved.

Frankie is the most handsome cat, so gentle, and once you gain his trust he will let you pet him and he will sit right next to you. He loves to be brushed, and play with toys. He loves other cats and gets along with dogs too.

Starry is beautiful and a love bug. Runs up to you meowing for attention to be pet. She also loves to be brushed and is silly and playful . If she doesn’t see Frankie in sight Starry meows like crazy looking for him. When Starry finds him then she is content. Starry also loves to sit next to you while watching tv, or reading but if you are not there she will find a furry companion to cuddle up to, including dogs!

Please consider this bonded pair. They need patience and love. They have had a few meet and greets. Starry puts on a show. She shows so much love and affection hoping it is enough for both of them since Frankie can be shy. So far they have not received even one application.

Sometimes the most unexpected friendships are the ones that mean the most. Frankie and Starry need each other. You can visit them at petco commack 🥰
Even though Frankie is shy he is gentle and kind. We know he will come out of his shell in a home especially if he has his best friend by his side. They just need a chance.

Frankie is the most handsome cat, gentle, once you gain his trust he will let you pet him and he will sit next to you (you can tell he is still working on being trusting from past trauma, but has come along way and he is trying so hard). He loves to be brushed, play with toys and chase the laser light (his favorite). He loves wet food in gravy and Churu treats. Also loves other cats and can live with dogs too.

Starry is beautiful and a love bug. Runs up to you meowing for attention to be petted. She also loves to brushed. She is not a picky eater and loves Churu treats. She also likes to chase the laser light. If she doesn’t see Frankie in sight Starry meows like crazy looking for him (sometimes he naps behind the tv). When I show her where he is then she is fine lol. Starry also loves to sit next to you while watching tv, reading or if you are not there she will lay next the family dog.

Please consider these 2 - they need patience and love. They have had a few meet and greets- Starry puts on a show. She shows so much love and affection hoping it is enough for both of them.

Meet Biscotti and Pignoli, 8 month old bonded brothers, Northport Cat Rescue Associations kittens of the week on this weeks Patch online!!.

Biscotti is a beautiful brown tabby while Pignoli is an adorable grey tabby. Their eyes are beautiful and have so much expression to them. If they could talk, I am sure they would tell us their story of their journey to safety. These boys were thrown out of their home as young kittens and left to fend for themselves. Luckily, a wonderful lady took them in and brought them to us.

They are magnificent. Never have I fostered such affectionate kittens. They love to be held, in fact Pignoli will actually put his head on your shoulder while holding him like a baby. Biscotti will start purring the minute you start petting him. Pignoli is very chatty and has the cutest chirp. They follow you around like dogs. In fact they get along beautifully with dogs as well! They will jump in your lap at the same time; one giving you kisses while the other is pawing at you gently for pets . All they want is love and attention, each other and of course, a forever home.

Biscotti and Pignoli are neutered, have all their shots, are litter box-trained, micro-chipped and FELV/FIV negative.
