Buoy & Kai’s Big Day!
Today Buoy and Kai attended the beautiful Blessing of the Animals event. They were absolute angels — calm and curious even with dogs barking, tortoises wandering around, cats on leashes, and kids everywhere!

No adoption applications just yet, but the Pastor gave them a special blessing to help them find their forever home soon — and we’re really hoping it works! 🐾

These bonded brothers just turned one year old and are the sweetest, most affectionate, gentle souls you could ever meet. They’re back at Petco Commack, waiting patiently for their people to find them.

Come meet them in person or fill out an application at www.northportcatrescue.org 💕

🐾 Come Join Us Today! 🐾
Head on down to St. Peter’s Lutheran’s Church in Huntington Station for the Wonders of the World Blessing of the Animals!

Bring the kids for fun crafts and scavenger hunts — and of course, your beloved pets are welcome to join in the blessings!

We’ll be there with our sweet boys Buoy and Kai, two bonded brothers who are pure lovebugs. 💕 These handsome, affectionate boys have been charming everyone they meet at Petco Commack, but somehow keep getting overlooked.

They’re just turning one year old, great with other cats, and gentle with everyone they meet. After spending their whole kittenhood in rescue, they’re so ready for a forever home together. 🏡

Come meet them today — maybe you’ll be the one they’ve been waiting for! 😻

Big weekend ahead…please come and join us🙏❤️

Saturday, October 4th, we will be having an adoption event at Petco Huntington, located in the Huntington Commons at 839 New York Ave, Huntington, NY 11743, from 11:00 am until 3:00 pm. There will be lots of kitties available, some that have been waiting so long! It’s the purrfect time to adopt, fall is coming and to cuddle on cold nights may be just what the doctor ordered. Please share our event details with all your friends. Sadly, our last event had a very low turnout, and we hoping this time we get even just one kitty adopted! Kittens like Mischa – the sweetest little girl!

Looking for something to do this Sunday? October 5th from 12:00pm – 2:00pm we will be at the Wonders of the World, Blessing of the Animals at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 11 Ogden Court, Huntington Station. All are welcome, including your pets (as long as they are on a leash) and bring the kids because there will be Kids crafts, kittens and more!
Please join us at least one of these events, it is going to be a beautiful weekend!

Meet Luke and Larry – one-year-old bonded brothers who have already lived through more hardship than most animals ever should.
Last winter, when the cold was at its cruelest, these boys were just trying to survive. With no regular food source at a day camp facility, they wandered, hungry and desperate. They eventually found shelter in a mechanic’s shop on the property, where they searched for scraps of human food to fill their empty bellies. Workers would see them chewing through discarded pizza boxes—tiny, freezing bodies doing whatever they could to stay alive. They were absolutely filthy and had squinty, infected eyes.

The shop workers didn’t chase them away, but no one gave them the warmth or care they desperately needed. Until, one day, a kind soul realized these boys wouldn’t survive much longer on their own and reached out for help. That call brought Luke and Larry to NCRA, where their story began to change, but not before heartbreak. These boys had a sister who endured the cold and hunger alongside them. By the time we arrived, she hadn’t survived. She was found beside her brothers, as if they had been protecting her until her very last breath. Luke and Larry’s eyes carried a grief far too deep for such young souls. It broke our hearts as well…if only we could have gotten to them a little sooner.

Today, though, they’re learning what it means to be safe, fed, and loved. Larry is the braver of the two—he leans into pets and purrs like a little engine of gratitude. Luke is more reserved, but once he feels safe, his walls start to crumble. He trills softly when pet, as though he’s finding his voice again. Together, they remind us that healing takes time, but it’s possible with love.
They adore other cats and even lived peacefully with a dog in foster care. These boys are bonded for life—after everything they’ve endured together, they deserve to stay side by side in the warm, loving home they’ve always deserved.

💔 Right now, Luke and Larry are waiting at Petco Huntington. They’ve been there for a while now without a single application. It breaks our hearts, because we know their family is out there somewhere—they just haven’t found them yet.

Please share their story with the world. Help us find the home they’ve been waiting for—the home their sister never got to have.

If you would like to meet them, fill out an application at www.northportcatrescue.org – (remember, it’s never a commitment)

Meet sweet Ashley, a beautiful female tabby, born on 6/16/24 and her friend Wednesday, a momma cat, born around October of 2024. 💕

Why are we introducing them together you may ask? Recently both girls came to Petco Commack, and have developed such a sweet friendship, we thought perhaps we could showcase them as friends to be adopted together!

Ashley is such a doll, and was rescued with her 2 brothers, who have since been adopted. She loves to relax and sit next to you and be pet and becomes a purring machine. She will seek out attention when things are nice and calm. Ashley loves playing but avoids rambunctious play time and prefers to sit and observe. Since she has been at Petco Commack, when all the kitty’s come out to play, Ashley will stay behind in her habitat and just observe and relax and seek attention. Once all the other kitties are back in their habitats, Ashley will jump out and get some stretch time.

BUT…There is one kitty at Petco Commack that understands Ashley and that is Wednesday. Perhaps because Wednesday, who was a mommy at such a young age, just has that protective and loving instinct. She will hop in Ashley’s habitat with her during playtime and sit next to her. Wednesday has the cutest overbite. She is so affectionate and loves attention. She gets along very well with other cats-especially Ashley. She is silly and quirky and very vocal. Everyone who meets her, falls in love with her, while she rolls over for pets making the best biscuits ever.

What a magnificent pair they are. If you are looking for the perfect duo, with personalities fully developed, loving and affectionate, these are your girls.

Would you consider adopting them, and watching their friendship continue to flourish? Come on down to Petco Commack to meet them or fill out an application at www.northportcatrescue.org.❤️❤️❤️

Don’t forget Northport Cat Rescue will be at the Cow Harbor Day in Northport Village this Sunday from 12:00 to 5:00! Come on down and visit us and some special fur babies too!😊
