A Heat Advisory is in effect across most of Connecticut through Sunday, with temperatures in the 90s and heat index values approaching 100°. High humidity, poor air quality, and the potential for severe thunderstorms later this week mean extra precautions are needed for our furry family members.

3 Important Heat Safety Tips:
💧 Keep pets cool and hydrated with plenty of fresh water and shade.
🐾 Avoid hot pavement and surfaces. If it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for their paws.
🚗 Never leave pets unattended in a vehicle, even for a few minutes.

⚠️ Watch for signs of heat exhaustion:
• Excessive panting
• Drooling
• Lethargy or weakness
• Vomiting

If your pet shows signs of overheating, move them to a cool area immediately and contact your veterinarian.
