As a trainer, I've noticed a significant spike in calls post-holiday season, and I believe this can be attributed to a few key factors. One major issue is the change in routine. After the hustle and bustle of the holidays, many pet owners find themselves uncertain about when to take their dogs outside, which unfortunately leads to accidents at home. Dogs thrive on consistency, and a sudden disruption in their schedule can create confusion.
Moreover, we must consider the human element. Life can get hectic, and it’s all too easy to forget to take our furry friends out. I often refer to this as “human error,” and it can become a real challenge, especially if your dog isn’t fully potty trained yet.
So, how can we tackle this?
A proactive approach is crucial. Start by removing food and water a few hours before bedtime to minimize nighttime accidents.
Then, establish a regular routine by taking your dog out every 3 to 4 hours during the day. This not only reinforces good habits but also gives your dog a sense of security, knowing when they can expect to go outside.
Remember, consistency is key. By sticking to this routine, you’ll help your dog learn when it’s time to relieve themselves, significantly reducing the chances of mishaps in your home. It’s never too late to implement positive changes, and with a little effort, you can create a comfortable and harmonious environment for both you and your pet.

Thanksgiving can feel overwhelmingly busy, and...
Save this for later!👇🏾
You're in good company if you’re worried about your pup causing a commotion. It’s understandable to want to keep them safe and happy during this festive time. One important thing to remember is to watch out for foods that can harm dogs.
Many of the beloved holiday dishes we enjoy can be hard on our furry friends. For instance,
🍗 Turkey skin can be too rich and upset their stomachs
🧅Onions and garlic often found in stuffing or gravy are toxic for them.
🍇 Grapes and raisins are also dangerous for dogs, so keeping them out of reach is best.
Additionally, avoiding giving them chocolate, avocados, macadamia nuts, and anything containing xylitol (like some sugar-free treats) is wise.
💫Why not create something special for them instead of tempting them with table scraps?
Instead, do this:👇🏾
A little pumpkin puree or some plain cooked turkey (remember, no seasoning!) can make them feel included and loved during the celebration.
I’d love to hear how you’re keeping your pups happy and full today; your tips are always welcome in the comments!

Ever feel like your pup has a personal trampoline by the door? 🐾🙈
You're not alone! Many of us dream of a dog that greets us calmly, but those excited jumps can be frustrating.
It's totally normal to want a pup that listens and fits perfectly into your life, but sometimes it feels like we take one step forward and two steps back. Excitement, distractions, and that overwhelming joy of seeing you can make it tricky for them to settle down.
**Here’s an easy tip:** Believe it or not, keep walking! The moment you stop, they might jump. Simply ignore the jumping and keep moving until they calm down. Once they’re settled, ask them to sit. You’ll be surprised how much less they jump when they know you won’t stop until they’re calm!
With a little patience and consistency, we can turn those enthusiastic greetings into something more manageable. Who else is navigating this adventure with their furry friend? Let’s support each other and make our training journeys a little easier! 💪❤️
