Raising puppies to not be reactive to storms ,fireworks, loud noises, it comes from you. Your energy depicts their reaction. Do you have anxiety, or have anxiety that they will have anxiety? This just feeds their fears. Start with teaching the puppy that when there is down time, such as crate or gate because of work or night or whatever, that crying, barking, howling is not acceptable. Here is how... Ignore behavior, and only let them out once they have stopped, and are sleeping or playing with a toy. What this teaches them is that you are in control.. that they have to trust you. When it storms, or there's fireworks in your neighborhood, just have a calm energy, as if it's completely normal. Never soothe, pet, or baby talk to a fearful state of mind. You never want to reward that state of mind. When they are calm, then you reward that state of mind.

Good morning pack leaders! 🥰 You still remember the mantra I often talk about in my program, don't you? And that is "No touch, no talk, no eye contact!" 🐶
Many people, upon first hearing this, may find it confusing or even disagree with it! Why do I do this with dogs? 🐶 Please allow me to help you understand more about my mantra! 🥰
Now, picture this: You're dealing with a furry friend who's all riled up, full of excitement or anxiety. 🐶 The first thing you gotta remember is, "No touch." That means, don't go reaching out to pet or cuddle them just yet. Give them some space and time to calm down. Physical touch can amp up their energy even more, so hold off until they're in a more relaxed state.
Next up, "No talk." 🐾 You might be tempted to blabber away or use a high-pitched voice when you see your adorable pooch, but trust me, that won't help. Dogs are energy readers, and they can sense your emotions through your voice. 🐶 Keep it calm and assertive, like the pack leader you are. Use a steady, confident tone to maintain a balanced atmosphere. 😁
Last but not least, "No eye contact." When you lock eyes with a dog, it's like issuing a challenge. They might see it as a sign of dominance or even a threat. 😄 So, instead, soften your gaze or look away slightly. This shows respect and non-aggression, allowing your pup to feel more at ease around you. 🐾
By following these three simple rules – "No touch, no talk, no eye contact" – you're setting the groundwork for a balanced and respectful relationship with your furry companion. Remember, dogs thrive on calm and assertive energy. 😄 So, keep it cool, be their confident pack leader, and watch as they respond positively to your balanced approach. 🐾
