🌟It's been a while since we've made a post about our horse show adventures towards the close of the 2024 season! Several people in the Longfellow crew hit the NY scene for Region 8 Championships and a few others finished the year at GMHA Fall Dressage Show. Here's a quick recap!

🦄Vickie Kahn-Sinclair and Lotus went out to Saugerites, NY for championships in September and competed in the PSG and I1 AA division. Thursday the pair warmed up with an I1 TOC and took a 1st place blue with a score of 65.515%. Friday they rode a PSG TOC with a score of 63.603% and Saturday was the start of their championship classes beginning with the I1 Championship Adult Amateur class in which they landed in 4th place with a 64.485%. Sunday the pair rode their PSG Championship Adult Amateur test for a score of 63.971%. Vickie and Lotus were happy to be back at championships after missing them last year and it was great having them back on the show scene with us all!

🦄Abigail White and Question rode their 3-3 test Thursday-Saturday with great success. Thursday and Friday were practice tests where the pair scored a 67.75% for a 3rd place and 66.25% for a 2nd place. Saturday was their Third Level Championship Adult Amateur test where they finished in 8th place with a 65.375%! Not bad at all for Abby's first season at 3rd level!!! Congrats Abby and Johnny!

🦄Karen Wilson took Idola B to NY for her Sunday Fourth Level Championship Adult Amateur test and came out with a very respectable 60.903%.

🦄Jackie Smith, coach extraordinaire, brought her Bella Primera out for some I2 schooling. It's been a few years since Becky was in NY, so it was a good experience to get her back to a larger venue. The pair had a lovely ride Friday at I2 with a 62.279%.

🦄Carly Neilson and her mare Atterupgaards Manilla competed in the I1 class where the goal was to have Manilla gain confidence where she lost it when there last. The pair had great schooling rides though tensions creeped in during their test for a final score of 59.559% in the I1 Championship Open class.

Overall, all goals were met and all horses had positive experiences which is what we strive for!!! Congratulations to all who qualified and made the effort to compete at Championships!

🌟The end of the season finished up in beautiful Vermont where where the foliage was gorgeous!

🦄Carly rode Vicki Kolenda's Midt-West Prime Time at PSG and had two lovely scores of 64.706% and 65.882%. They finished in 1st place both days and ended up being FEI High Point for the entire weekend!! Way to go Timmy!

🦄Cyndy West and handsome Tongo competed at PSG for the weekend also and had a gorgeous test on Sunday with a score of 60%. It is so fun to see how far this pair has come over the last few years!

🦄Alyssa and Senegal accompanied Tim and Tongo to Vermont and were the best show buddies one could ever ask for! Alyssa and Sen had some great schooling rides and enjoyed the gorgeous scenery while up there.

Congratulations to everyone for such a successful season this year. It takes so much effort to make it all happen and it is wonderful when hard work and dedication pay off!

The Longfellow crew hit the State of Maine Dressage Association's Summer Breeze show July 7th and had some pretty exciting results!!

Alyssa Harkness Holdeman and her gelding Senegal rode their first ever sanctioned FEI test and finished with a 60%!! Alyssa earned the first of her PSG scores towards her USDF Silver medal! It has been so exciting to watch this pair make their way up the levels and even more exciting to see such success at their first time in the FEI ring. Way to go you two!

Kelly Somers and her gelding Kaden had an awesome ride at I1 and put in a very harmonious and flowing test. They finished with a 64.265% and ended up being high score FEI for the show! It is still so amazing to watch these two especially knowing how far they've come since Kaden's colic surgery in December. Onward and upwards for this pair! (photos by Sheryl Wilkinson)

Cyndy West has been a part of the Longfellow family for years and we have all seen her take her handsome boy Tongo from a diamond in the rough to a shining star. This was Cyndy's first time back in the rated show ring since 2015 and we'd say she re-entered the show scene with a bang! Tongo and Cyndy rode PSG and earned a blue ribbon with a 60.588%- yet another FEI horse on the books!! Cyndy has worked very hard for many years to get Tongo to this point and we hope she had some champagne after that day! (photo by Spotted Vision Photography)

Way to go team!

*Side note- there was a Hawaiian? theme to the show.... the ladies do keep us on our toes, but normal show attire usually isn't Hawaiian shirts and lei's haha

Longfellow has kicked off the show season with some super rides at NEDA Spring and June Dressage Days at GMHA. Several horse and rider pairs have now hit the show ring and have some exciting results to share.

🦄Vickie Kahn-Sinclair started out the season at Fieldstone Show Park in Halifax with Lotus and had two lovely PSG rides with scores of 65.441% and 66.618% earning them a blue and red ribbon. The pair also dusted off their I1 test since their Florida winter season and finished second with a score of 62.721%. It was a great first weekend back horse showing in New England for this duo!

🦄At the beautiful Green Mountain Horse Association in Woodstock, VT we had 7 horse and rider pairs competing which proved to be a very busy three days of showing! Trainer, instructor, and super coach Jackie Smith rode her Bella Primera for their I2 debut earning themselves very respectable scores of 60.386% and 61.838%.

🦄Carly brought her mare Didolein to compete in the Grand Prix after working hard all winter to improve upon some of their tougher movements. The pair finished in second place with a score of 60.435% and improved upon that Saturday with a 1st place finish of 61.196%.

🦄Carly debuted her mare Atterupgaards Manilla at I1 after taking two years off from showing. The pair had many 7.5’s in the trot work and some lovely moments in the canter. Friday they finished in 3rd place with a 63.235%, Saturday finished in 2nd place with a 63.750%, and Sunday completed the weekend with a 3rd at 61.765%.

🦄Kelly Somers happily brought horse Kadence HM to Vermont which was special in many ways, but largely because last December he had colic surgery and at the beginning had a rocky recovery. Kelly and Kaden rode down centerline at I1 and had two lovely scores of 60.368% and 62.206%. These scores were also exciting because Kelly needed another I1 score for her Gold Medal and successfully achieved that!

🦄Karen Wilson also dusted off her show attire since being in Florida for the winter season and had four very nice rides at 4th level. Friday the pair competed in a 4-1 and 4-3, earning a 60.329% and 61.597%. Saturday they scored a 61.736 at 4-3 and Sunday had a nice ride with a 62.778% at 4-3. Karen ended up being Champion High Point 4th level AA for both the Friday show as well as Saturday/Sunday! Well done you two!

🦄Vickie Kahn-Sinclair and Lotus also hit the Vermont scene riding a PSG Friday with a 66.691%, not only finishing in 1st place but also winning Champion FEI High Point AA. Saturday they rode the I1 for another great score of 66.691% earning 2nd place and on Sunday earned a 64.338% and another blue ribbon. Vickie ended up Reserve Champion FEI High Point AA for the Saturday/Sunday show!

🦄Kayleigh Hollis and her event horse DSL Sinatra rode at their first ever USDF rated event, earning their first scores towards Kayleigh's Bronze Medal. On Friday they competed in Training 3 and 1-1. They received a 63.4% at Training 3 Test and a 65.926% in the 1-1, ending as Reserve Champion Training Level JR/YR! Saturday and Sunday they competed in the 1-1 and 1-3 both days. Saturday they scored a 68.194% in the 1-3 and a 66.296% in 1-1. Sunday the pair rode their 1-3 for a score of 64.653% and scored 66.667% in their 1-1. At the end of the weekend Kayleigh and Frank had officially ridden 6 tests and finished as Reserve Champion First Level JR/YR!

💎Congratulations to all horse and rider pairs. It takes a lot of time and hard work getting in the show ring, but it all comes down to dedication and good training! A special thank you goes out to Cyndy West for helping trailer and groom these special horses for us and for adding some sparkle to our weekend! ✨

We are happy to report that Longfellow’s Lennon found his new mom three days after going on the market. This special boy had a lot of interest, but the universe brought Emily and Lennon together for the most perfect fit anyone could ask for. He is now living a beautiful life in New Jersey and it’s no surprise he’s made good friends with his paddock mates. We’re thrilled with this match and can’t wait to see Emily and Lennon’s future success in the dressage arena. It also came without shock that this chill guy loaded right up on a semi in the dark despite having never been on a commercial trailer and rode like a seasoned veteran. He’s truly one of a kind and as his breeder his intelligence and sweet disposition make us most proud. Have fun in this new chapter of life big boy! 💕

**SOLD**

✨Impressive FEI candidate- 4 year old 17.3h gelding by Lord Leatherdale✨

Smart, safe, and stunning coming 4 year old registered KWPN gelding by Lord Leatherdale out of a Tento B mare. P.S. Love Me Do, aka “Lennon”, has the disposition and confidence of a well seasoned adult horse. We can’t say enough about how unflappable this youngster is and how utterly calm he remains in his ever evolving life. He was backed in June of 2023 as a 3 year old and spent 45 days becoming a well rounded working horse including being ridden walk trot canter in a group of horses on trail in the woods, completing natural obstacle courses including bridges, crossing water, all other aspects of a mountain trail course, and brushing up on good ground manners.

Lennon is 17.3h and has been slow to physically mature, so after his initial backing in July-August 2023, he came home and had the rest of the fall and winter off to fill out and grow. He was put back to work the third week of March 2024 and is ready to continue his dressage career and find his person! Currently Lennon is a baby green walk trot canter under saddle, lunges with side reins, and hacks out confidently. He is forward thinking without being hot or overly sensitive and is currently working on bend and balance in all three working gaits. He does get foot sore on different terrain so Lennon is happiest in 4 regular shoes, nothing additional or special required.

Currently UTD on Coggins and is in the middle of his spring vaccine package, Lennon sees the chiropractor monthly with the rest of our training horses and is a total joy and puppy dog to be around. He loads and trailers like a dream, likes to be vacuumed with the Electro- Groom vacuum, body clips without a second thought, ties well, and is good for the vet and farrier. Lennon is used to 24/7 turnout and is well socialized in group turnout.

Born to be an FEI dressage star, Lennon is by the famous Grand Prix stallion Lord Leatherdale who needs no introductions. His dam, Ariella, by Trento B was a competitive FEI horse with an incredible hind leg and ability to sit with a spectacular piaffe/passage. Lennon is suitable for a professional, but has the brain along with the beautiful wow factor that makes him an AA’s dream. He has three super gaits, a loose swinging walk, active trot, and ground covering canter stride that will get you noticed anywhere you go. Contact Carly at 860-558-7809 to try this special boy for yourself. Located in Nottingham, NH and rider in the video is 5'2".
