🐾 HENRY NEEDS A HOME 🐾
Henry arrived to Rescue Village after being transferred in from the Trumbull County Pound (Voices of the Trumbull Pound Dogs).

Henry enjoys playing with other dogs and is quite gentle, but can also be a little rowdy. He likes to go for walks and spend time with people. 💜

Henry is VERY STRESSED in the shelter and we are sadly watching this sweet boy become very sad and overwhelmed in the shelter environment.

Please share this post to help Henry find a home! We know he will absolutely thrive outside of the shelter. 🏠

Rescue Village is located at 15463 Chillicothe Rd., Novelty, OH 44072. No appointment is needed for adoptions. The shelter is open for adoptions: Tuesday 12-4pm, Wednesday & Thursday 12-6:30pm and Friday through Sunday from 12-4pm.
You can view Henry's adoption bio at www.rescuevillage.org/adopt

🐾Don't forget about us!🐾
Peggy and Nova have been overlooked for SO many months now, but we know there is a perfect home for them and it will be worth their wait!

5 month-old Peggy came from a litter of 10 and she is the only one still waiting for her new family. She may be shy at first, but she will warm up to you in no time. 3 year-old Nova had 10 puppies and is ready to live her puppy-free life! Nova would do best as the only animal in the home.

PLEASE help us spread the word about these beauties! Adoption fees for both have been sponsored by a caring donor.❤ Visit www.rescuevillage.org/adopt to learn more or call 440-338-4819. We are open today until 6:30pm and Fri-Sun from 12-4pm.

By making an end-of-year gift, https://tinyurl.com/y5h8k449, you can help dogs like Delilah, who was abandoned at Rescue Village in November. A couple tied her up outside before driving off in a hurry, leaving her behind. Her owner had left a lengthy letter in the mail box explaining that Delilah was a neighborhood dog they had taken in who had been neglected and left to fend for herself for many days.

Initially, the medical staff postponed routine procedures for Delilah due to her stress. After a few days, they were able to give her all her vaccines and medicines and conduct a full exam. They discovered that she had recently given birth, had infections in both ears, and was experiencing digestive issues. As a result, she was prescribed medication and a special diet.

Rescue Village works closely with animal owners who make the difficult decision to surrender their pets. However, animal abandonment is illegal, even outside a humane society. Recently, several puppies were found abandoned in a shipping box outside Rescue Village’s front door. Like Delilah’s case, their abandonment was also illegal. Fortunately, the puppies had barked inside the dark box, or we wouldn’t have known they were more than a shipment of kitty litter.

With medicine, Delilah’s ear infections were improving, but as the swelling decreased, the vets recently discovered severe ear masses clogging both ear canals. Delilah requires $7,000 for specialized surgery to eliminate the chronic ear infections, which would only worsen her pain and lead to deeper, medically untreatable infections.

Thanks to donations from people like you, Rescue Village can provide a safe haven and specialized critical medical care for pets like Delilah who are suffering and deserve a healthy and happy life. Delilah is scheduled for surgery soon, and we hope you will contribute to these costs with a tax-deductible end-of-year gift.

These rescue stories don’t occur magically; they happen because people like you lend a helping hand. It’s that simple.

In 2024, Rescue Village played a pivotal role in saving over 700 animals from 43 other rescues and agencies that had reached their capacity.

The rest of Rescue Village’s animals are strays or come from owners who were forced to surrender their pets.

Every year, Rescue Village welcomes and finds homes for 2,000 animals, while another 1,000 benefit from spay/neuter services.

Rescue Village stands as an unlimited-stay humane society with an impressive 98% live release rate.

Consider the joy and fulfillment that these animals experience as they find loving homes and thrive in warm, happy, and nurturing environments with their families this New Year’s Eve. Some dogs, including Delilah, are happily spending the holidays in Rescue Village Foster homes, enjoying extra comfort, treats, and the comfort of naps.

Some of the newest Rescue Village dogs are here! Six of them are from the Trumbull County Dog Warden & Kennel, and four are from the Mahoning County Dog Warden. Once they receive the medical care they need (vet checkups, spay/neuter, etc.) they will be ready for adoption! ❤️

We first met 12-year-old Murray in 2022 when he was surrendered to Rescue Village by a family in a medical crisis who could no longer care for him. The family tried to rehome him independently but were unsuccessful, so Rescue Village lent a helping hand. Being so cute and loving, he was quickly adopted, but the solution to Murray’s forever home would prove elusive.

Will you make an end-of-year gift to help animals like Murray? Visit https://give.rescuevillage.org/Default.aspx?tsid=32133 to donate.

The first warning that Murray’s journey was not complete arrived a year and a half after his adoption when he was found running as a stray. After his stray hold was up at a county dog shelter, he was transferred back to Rescue Village, where his owner eventually found him.

In October, an abuse complaint was made by a state agency that is a mandatory reporter of animal abuse. A humane officer seized Murray from his home due to the illegal and inhumane living conditions Murray was forced to live in. Murray’s owner didn’t show up to court, so 15-year-old Murray once again became a Rescue Village resident.

The medical team examined him and found that he had extreme dental disease and would need 12 teeth removed as soon as possible. He was also treated for Lyme Disease. After his full recovery, this spunky, playful, and friendly 15-year-old was once again put up for adoption. After several weeks, he was adopted.

Murray had quite a bumpy road the past few years after losing two families in his golden years. But thanks to caring donors, Rescue Village was there to help. Will you make a gift before midnight on 12/31 to help more animals like Murray?

Time is running out this year for Rescue Village to meet the $150,000 year-end goal, and your gift of any amount to help animals like Murray will make a difference. And, if you give today, your gift will be matched dollar for dollar up to $80,000!! Visit https://give.rescuevillage.org/Default.aspx?tsid=32133 to donate.

Rescue Village is VERY MERRY today! We had some incredible adoptions this weekend.😀❤ Since Friday, 14 cats and 13 dogs got a new home for the holidays, including Malcolm, a dog that went to the farmers' market on Saturday! Senior pup Murray finally got a home, and so did Lay-O after waiting over 105 days at the shelter.

On top of all that amazing news, a very generous couple Tom & Laura Krus stopped by to make a donation and by the time they left they ended up sponsoring the adoption fees for 14 dogs and 6 barn animals, in addition to their donation. 🤩WOW, we are blown away, thank you both!! This is the second time Laura has come to the rescue! She was our Friday the 13th angel a couple of months ago when she sponsored the adoption fees of all the available dogs on the adoption floor!

Rescue Village is so grateful and honored by the outpouring of support for the animals all year long, and especially during the holidays.

Rescue Village is a private nonprofit humane society that provides medical care and housing for homeless animals and is considered a no-kill shelter. We are not a government agency, we receive no taxpayer support, and perhaps most importantly, we are not involved in the decisions elected officials make regarding the operations of government services, including the Geauga County Dog Warden’s Office.

We always seek to have a strong relationship with Geauga County agencies and we stand ready to support our county government, our Sheriff’s Office and the dog warden, as we do with other Ohio counties. Whatever the county decides, we will always work with partners to ensure that dogs are well taken care of until they find permanent homes.
