We have some exciting news this week about Trademark, but first, a little background.

Since acquiring Trademark, we used him quite heavily and then patiently waited for his daughters to freshen. In 2023 and 2024, we saw quite a few of them come into milk and were quite impressed. So, we went into last year's breeding season planning to use him again on quite a few does, but they kept recycling. He had gotten sick over the summer but acted fully recovered.

Brandon came for collection, and after each jump, he reported that Trademark had produced single-digit cell counts. Sadly, we had to change every breeding we had initially planned.

This year, his daughters took an even bigger step forward—Ovation and Aliza both standing in the National Champion lineup and Hatikva winning nine Best in Shows. Together, they went on to capture 1st place Senior Get of Sire in Grand Island!

We had given Trademark another year to recover in the hopes that he could get over whatever was ailing him. On Wednesday, the results showed a full recovery! We finally have more Trademark semen available, and he is back on the breeding schedule for this fall (including a Zamara flush breeding 😍).

Semen available via Blue Mountain - 5/$300.

As we head to the Nebraska State Fair this morning we are reminded of the many great memories from this year’s National Show. Fonner Park in Grand Island was a beautiful backdrop for the National Show, spacious, well designed, and truly livestock oriented in their ability to understand the unique needs that come with thousands of animals and their people collecting in one place for a week.

The week had lots of high points. First was the fact that we were able to reconnect with Steve Pope. The official photographer for many years at Nationals, we developed a friendship outside of "goats" with Steve and it was great to see him again. We were told by a very wise fellow goat breeder (Nan Wojcik) to take a family picture every year, regardless of placings, as you never know when a National Show trip becomes the last one. Following that, a family "Purple Shirt" picture has become one of our annual traditions at the National Show, and for many years, Steve would join in on our "Family Picture". After a few years of hiatus, we finally have an updated Larson + Steve photo, purple shirts and all!

Every spring we have undergraduate students from CSU "intern" with us during chore times, mostly focused on milking and bottle feeding, this allows them to experience dairy goats, gain animal contact hours for vet school applications, we get to introduce a whole new group of people, and we have gained several faithful experienced chorehands. Many years ago, Jeremy spent a spring interning with us, attended a few shows with us and became part of the family. His daughter Lillian has joined the show team and they took a family trip out to Nebraska for the youth weekend. Lillian had a great time meeting new goat friends, joined in on a fitting team, and even made the cut in Jr Showmanship with Thelma her Togg friend!

The evening of the Jr Alpine show was yet another example of the resourcefulness and willingness to help that goat people have always exhibited as the barn came together to address the rain coming in the swine barn. Brooms were grabbed quickly and everyone worked efficiently and cheerfully, ensuring tack was removed from puddles and animal pens were protected as water was rapidly swept back out of the barn. We have been part of several National shows and as weather challenges are present regardless of location, this was another chapter of memories we gained as part of this amazing community. Strangers became friends as phone numbers were tracked down, animal pens were prioritized, and tack was rescued without a moment of hesitation. We have often discussed the family friendly atmosphere that kept us coming back when the Larson Family was more kids than adults and that was proven over and over again with the eagerness that everyone showed to pitch in.

Many of our fondest memories have been made traveling around the country with the goats that hold our hearts and the 2025 ADGA National Show in Grand Island Nebraska was no exception. Through the show ring, the Spotlight Sale stage, penside chats, late night water sweeping, and all the moments in between, this was truly the highlight of the summer.

Lastly the Alpine results:

Alpine day started with a late dry yearling class on Tuesday evening, our single junior Alpine, Harmody RHTS Zamara's Hadassa was 17th in a class of 42.

We exhibited 8 milking Alpine does on Wednesday.

Harmody NSLW Liora's Annaliesa and Harmody HAF Sequel's Prelude started the day off strong placing 3rd and 6th respectively in the yearling milker class. Annaliesa is a stylish dairy doe - who is extremely flat and long b***d with a smooth blended fore udder. Prelude is our first milking Fritz daughter and she reminds us so much of Tirza with the size and scale to go along with the correctness of general appearance.

GCH Harmody OCT Encore's Ovation is our only two year old and she joined "The Pottery Club" by placing 1st/2nd udder. Ovation is an extremely stylish doe with a long bone pattern throughout, level topline, and strong feet and legs. Her mammary system is one of our favorite traits. She has a lot of overall area of attachment with great height and width to her rear udder as well as extreme extension to the fore udder.

In the 3 year old class we had GCH Harmody OCT Ziva's Aliza and GCH Harmody OCT Zamara's Hatikva. These half sisters are two sides of the same coin - high wide rear udders, smoothly blended fore udders and beautiful general appearance present in both of these does. Aliza is more refined with an elegant ring presence and Hatikva has earned the nickname "pony" with her overall size, scale, and power. Aliza placed 2nd/3rd udder and Hatikva placed 5th.

GCH Harmody OAA Zamara's Tirza decided not to settle this last fall and is milking through from her March 2024 kidding. Tirza exhibits faultless general appearance, smooth extension of her fore udder, and a high wide rear udder that is similar in style to her dam. While she is slightly over conditioned and starting to go stale due to her extended lactation, Tirza still placed 8th. Tirza was also awarded High 305 fat & High 305 Milk

GCH Harmody RHFR Atara's Ziva is our 6 year old, 6th freshening doe. Ziva is easily the longest bodied doe in our herd with an excellent set of rear legs, beautiful topline, and strong productive mammary system. Ziva continues to be a consistently high placing doe at nationals, placing 5th in the class, her 5th (out of 5 appearances) top 10 National Show placing.

The last doe we showed was GCH Harmody HVV Atara's Zamara. As an 8 year old 8th freshening doe, Zamara easily handled quad kids, milking over 18 pounds a day, and a trip to Grand Island as if it was a breeze. Zamara continues to reign as queen of the herd and show that you don't have to choose between production and style. Zamara placed 2nd with 1st udder along with high lifetime milk & Alpine Total Performer (her 3rd time).

Group class results:
Dairy Herd (Zamara, Hatikva, Aliza, Ovation) - 2nd place
Best 3 (Zamara, Aliza, Ovation) - 2nd place
Senior Get of Sire - Olentangy Chimay Trademark (Hatikva, Aliza, Ovation) - 1st place
Produce of Dam - Zamara's produce (Tirza/Hatikva) 2nd place, Atara's produce (Zamara/Ziva) 3rd place
Dam and Daughter - Zamara/Hatikva - 1st place, Ziva/Aliza - 4th place

Well we started with the results from our last breed shown but now shifting back to the first breed we showed - Toggenburgs!

This year we showed 5 Toggenburg milkers and one dry yearling - the most toggs we have ever shown at Nationals. They somehow keep creeping up in numbers around here.

Harmody REMM Thelma's Jeannie (TJ) was our lone dry yearling - we like TJ's strength of feet and legs but she enjoys her meals and so she is plenty 'filled in'. She still managed to pull off a 17th place finish.

The morning started on a high with Harmody MSSR Lily's Vivian winning the yearling class (with 3rd udder). Vivian really shows the traits we value in yearlings - strength, power, and some immaturity plus a well attached mammary system.

Harmody Fusion Maggie's Thelma placed 8th as a 2 yr old. We were so happy with how Thelma looked after only having a single this spring. She exhibits exceptional general appearance with strong feet and legs and a level topline much like her dam, Maggie.

We showed two full sisters in the 3 year old milker class - Harmody Jackpot Maggie's Lilly and GCH Harmody Jackpot Maggie's Shirley. Shirley really excels in mammary and dairy strength - she has a high, wide rear udder and a stunning fore udder with great extension of lateral attachments. This complements her flat, long and open bone pattern. In contrast, Lilly really excels in general appearance and body capacity - deep, wide and powerful with exceptional width and levelness over the topline and strong angular rear legs (It's fun to see a lot of these traits in her daughter Vivian). Shirley was 4th and Lilly placed 11th.

The last togg milker we showed was GCH Quality Crest Cowboy Maggie. This year, after freshening, Maggie looked the best she had since 2021 and we were super excited. But then in the middle of June, the weather got a little crazy and Maggie decided she needed to get sick. She recovered physically but we were not sure about her body condition or milk capacity. Grand Island is close to home so it was easy enough to bring her and fill her for show day to see what she looked like. She filled well that morning and never stopped eating the whole week so she showed. Maggie was awarded 2nd with 2nd udder.

Group class results:
Dairy Herd - Maggie, Shirley, Vivian, and Thelma, 4th place
Best 3 Senior Does - Shirley, Vivian, and Thelma, 4th place
Sr Get of Sire - Thelma joined with two Fusion daughters from Taylor Ridge to win the class (Rowe's Time Fusion)
Produce of Dam - Shirley and Thelma, 1st place
Dam and Daughter - Maggie and Shirley 2nd place

We finally got around to ordering National Show pictures, so results are incoming!

Every National Show brings its own surprises, and this year was no different. We brought one kid—our only Recorded Grade. We had pre-sold a kid and needed a buddy for her. Looking through our baby pen, Jenga always caught our eye in her own flashy and pretty way, so we figured, why not? We never show kids, so we had no idea how this would go.

Well… introducing Harmody HHST Arabesque's Jenga:

⭐ 2025 ADGA NATIONAL JR CHAMPION
⭐ 1st place Intermediate kid

To say we’re shocked would be an understatement—we may have never shown a Recorded Grade before, and we definitely have never won an RG ribbon! We couldn’t ask for a more exciting way to change both of those statements.

Does this mean we need another page on the website for Experimentals?

Tonight’s the night!

For the past several days, we’ve shared glimpses of Michael Scott — his structure, his style, and his standout genetics.

And now, it all leads to this.

Tonight, he himself steps into the spotlight. We couldn’t be prouder of the animal he is becoming. He carries the best of Harmody Alpines — bold genetics, confident posture, and a steady presence that’s earned him more than a few fans this week.

As THE Michael Scott once said: “It’s just… hard to accept that it’s over, you know? But now I guess I’m ready to move on”.

We are excited for our Michael Scott to move on to a different herd and see what he does for his new owners!! Thank you to everyone who’s followed along and supported him.
