Food for thought🐾
In some cases, but not always, your dog may act weird, or unusual after a spa day with a brand new groomer. It doesn't necessarily mean your dog has been mistreated, traumatized or hurt in any way. Dogs are sensitive creatures, that live in their feelings. They get weirded out with new experiences, just as humans do.
The best and most efficient way to deal with any situation like this, is to speak to your groomer directly, ask questions about the grooming process, and make clear your expectations. Even if the groomer follows your request to a T, doesn't mean little Fluffy is going to be a ball of unfettered happiness and calm tranquility when you arrive to pick them up. Things to consider when picking up your weird acting, tired or otherwise strange behavior pooch:
1- Is it the first grooming, at that salon
2-Is it their first ever groom EVER
3-Are they a nervous type dog/cat about noise or other high energy dogs
4-Do they have separation anxiety
5-Do they have a preference or dislike, to a male or female human?
6-Have they been sick or hospitalized recently?
7-Are they blind/deaf
8-Are they arthritic seniors
9-Are YOU nervous about leaving them
10-Are you indirectly or unintentionally dragging out leaving them, out of your own separation anxiety...
Those 10 things can make or break a visit to a groomer, for your dog. Some clients go straight to abuse, groomer inflicted trauma, etc. That is an unfair assumption, especially if you don't talk about it! Communication is key! In every aspect of life, not just pet grooming. So please, all and future new arrival clients, give us a chance, talk to us, we can handle constructive criticism, things you want or need to be different (provided its not out of the realm of possibility) and are more than willing to even record the entire process start to finish, for you, if you're having doubts about the handling of your pet.
Remember not knowing and/or assuming can destroy someone's livelihood.
Yes! This does concern a client, who came one time, and one time only. With 2 little dogs. One acted weird after going home, and it was just assumed that the dog was traumatized BY ME!😫 You can't go from a years long used frequent groomer, to a new one entirely, and expect a smooth transition, with a nervous type dog. You just can't. We are 100% interested in doing the best job possible, and will continue to do so until I retire as an old lady. I was completely caught off guard by this, and am very unsettled about it. I remember the groom in detail, because I tried really hard to make them happy and their small dogs comfy, and thought their hair looked great when I finished as well. I couldn't have been more wrong. But to get the information second hand, was even more unsettling. I know you can't please them all, but that won't stop us from trying!🫶🐾
Point being, talk to me, tell me, I'm here, and I'm listening.
So happy day, happy dogs, and hope to see you all soon! 🐾
Don't forget the spooktacular spookfest here on October 31st! We're really doing it up for everyone! Lots of food for all and fun for the kiddos and CANDY!!🎃 Have a great day y'all!!
