Second Chance Animal Rescue of Levittown, New York (SCARNY) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to rescue abandoned and abused animals and find them loving homes. Since we are not state or federally funded, we are supported by donations and by the generosity of our volunteers who dedicate their time to help homeless animals feel safe and loved. Unfortunately several of our resc

ues, through no fault of their own, find themselves dumped, lost, abandoned, or injured. We rehabilitate as many dogs and cats as we can with the help of our volunteers and fosters. SCARNY is made up of a small group of compassionate volunteers who generously offer to help animals in need. Our volunteers assist in fostering, training, feeding, and cleaning at our partnered locations which is not only selfless, but fulfilling! SCARNY recognizes when an animal is in need and lends their hands, homes, and hearts to help. What we receive in return is priceless, knowing that a rescue dog or cat has found their forever home with a family that is perfect for them.

🚨URGENT🚨

Ranger is in need of an emergency foster!!! 🆘

Ranger is an 11 month old Lab/Shepherd/Husky Mix. He is great with people and is super dog friendly! He attends doggy daycare frequently. He is good with kids but needs to be in a home with kids 15 or older.

A few months ago Ranger started exhibiting a strange behavior in his home, where he would appear uncomfortable and almost fearful when trying to relax. If a member of the family disturbed him when trying to rest, he would react with a warning snap.

Outside of the house he is super friendly and affectionate towards everyone. Inside the house, Ranger only seemed to be interested in his mom and her attention. He showed no interest in interacted with the kids or dad.

After trying everything they could think of, and getting no help from “professionals,” Ranger’s family reached out to us for help.

Working with us for a few weeks, Ranger started showing improvements. We were re-introducing boundaries and working on his manners - he needed the reminder that he is not the alpha in the family.

Over the past week, Ranger’s behavior has been reverting back to what we started with. His warning snaps don’t typically make contact, but now he has made contact twice, once slightly breaking skin.

We want to emphasize that Ranger is ‼️NOT‼️an aggressive dog. He is ‼️NOT‼️ actively trying to harm anyone.

Please help us try to find a foster for Ranger ASAP!!!! 🆘

🐾 Hi everyone, my name is Jaxson, and I’m a 2.5-year-old Chihuahua and Papillon mix with a heart full of love to give. 🐾
My journey has been a bit rocky. My previous owner was forced to leave her home and couldn’t take me with her, so she made the difficult decision to give me up in hopes that I would find a forever home. Despite these challenges, I’m an intelligent little guy who doesn’t take up much room but has a lot of love to offer. 🌟
In my past, I experienced some tough times. I was abused by a man, which has left me very fearful of men. I tend to bark and try to protect myself and the people I care about when I’m around them. But please don’t let this deter you—I’m an incredibly sweet and loving boy who just needs the right environment to feel safe and secure. 🐶❤️
I am eagerly waiting for a forever home where I can be cherished and loved. I promise to bring joy and companionship to your life. If you have a kind heart and a patient spirit, I would love to be a part of your family and create wonderful memories together. 🌈🏡

Hi everyone! My name is Ranger! I am a 10 month old Lab/Shepherd/Husky mix and I am looking for a furever home. I am a super sweet boy and love everyone - adults and kids! I am super dog friendly too!

I currently go to doggy daycare a couple times a week and I go to the dog park every day for at least an hour. I have lots of energy to burn! I’ve done lots of training and know a bunch of commands like sit, down and place. I’m very smart and love to learn.

I’m not a good fit in my current home because of the anxiety levels my family is experiencing. Can you help us find me a forever home?

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our sweet boy PeeWee, formerly known as Brighton 💔 Brighton was surrendered to us back in 2018, and he was adopted that April. In the short time Brighton was with our rescue, he stole all of our hearts and showed us what a ray of sunshine he really was. He was adopted by an amazing family and definitely lived his best life with them. We are heartbroken to hear of his passing, but we are relieved that he is at peace and not in any pain. Without a doubt in our minds we know that Brighton, PeeWee, is watching over us all 😇 We love and miss you bud ❤️🐾

Mela is need of a foster or adopter! She is a 3 year old shepherd mix, but she is on the smaller side. Mela has a ton of energy and would thrive in an active household. She loves people, especially kids, but would do best as the only dog. Please help us find Mela the perfect family 💕

Update: This is Billi. She is now safe and being treated at annanimal hospital. An animal abuse case is expected to start soon. She had wounds on her neck and a fractured leg. She is in recovery from her wounds but this poor dog has been traumatized.

SCARNY was involved in the rescue of this dog abandoned in a park in the city. The dog was covered in blood and feces in a crate she could hardly fit. She was left there with the black cover over her in this heat. Thank God for a woman walking her dog who knew it wasnt going to be good but lifted the cover off her anyway. Police were called and the dog is being treated as an abuse case. She is getting medical attention for her wounds and nutritional foods as she is emaciated. Prayers for this poor angel.

This big boy is a 2 year old lab mix and is in need of a furever home. Dexter is coming to us as an owner surrender, but to no fault of his own. Dexter is a very high energy dog, and unfortunately his current family cannot provide the activity or stimulation that he needs to thrive. He is housebroken and knows several commands (including sit, place, leave it, come, and off). He lived with another dog (Rottweiler) and older children and he was great with all of them. After getting the pleasure of meeting and working with Dexter, we can confirm that he is a big goofball with lots of love to give!
