If at all possible, this would be ideal for your pet.
We had Remi go in with Rana after her passing so she fully understood her mama was gone. She did, and she mourned for weeks. But she mourned her loss, not her abandonment. Our animals mourn our passing if we go first, just as much as Remi mourned Rana.

In this age of cell phones and the wonderful photos they can take, we all have plenty of pics of our dogs on hand. But even with that, we always carry in our vehicle a folder which contains needed info about any dog we have with us at the time. Phones can die, get damaged in an accident or somehow become unavailable. You may be unconscious, unable to retrieve your pet. In the event of an accident, or your pet gets spooked and takes off it is really good to have on hand any vital info about them. We keep in our folder a good quality recent photo and an information sheet with their name, age, s*x, microchip info(microchip # and the # of the company they are registered with), any meds they may be on or medical issues they may have, their personality, so people will know how to approach them, any identifying marks, scars, etc. that sets them apart.
This just gave us an extra bit of security as we traveled, you never know what may happen!

This year has been one to remember, but not always in the best of ways.
We again are saying goodbye to another one of our retired girls, Ritz. Some of you have a Ritz/Axl puppy, including Ritz's family, so her legacy will live on!
Her family will be saying goodbye to her this Thursday due to health issues, she developed a cancer on her head that has grown to the point her life is impacted enough that it is time to say goodbye. Her family has done all they could to keep her going, and they will miss her greatly.
Our deepest sympathy goes out to Ritzs' family, you were so good for her!

After living through a flood in 2019 we realized how very unprepared we were for any emergency involving all the dogs at one time. After that, we made ready for anything that may come up, whether we had to stay in place or leave quickly we are much better prepared. You never know when a flood, fire or any other natural disaster may occur, so be ready!

This National Disaster Preparedness Month, let's take the time to reflect on how we can best prepare for unexpected disasters with our furry friends. Through designing a plan, creating a kit, and exploring options to ensure our pets are safe and secure, we can lead our families towards a more secure future. As we take the time to consider how we can ready ourselves and our pets for any eventuality we can find solace in knowing that we are taking every step possible to ensure their safety.

It seems like loss has become a very, very real part of our lives recently. We again are having to announce the passing of one of our own, Rana. She just went to sleep last night in her bed and didn't wake up. We knew her time was probably here, she wouldn't eat yesterday and she had that look everyone knows, she was ready to go, her work here was done after 10 years of caring for us.
Rana was that dog for me that I will never have again, and we were so blessed to have had her. She truly made our lives fuller and more complete, she will be missed beyond measure.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with the "Love Languages" years ago Dr. Gary Chapman wrote a book on love languages, those things that speak to our hearts and make us feel loved. So this person has just put a doggie twist to them and made them applicable to every dog lover out there!
