New River Animal Rescue, WV The NRAR is a group that is dedicated to serving the needs of community members and animals. The New River Humane Society, Inc.

provides low cost spay and neuter for Fayette Co, WV residents as well as participates in a feral cat colony program to assist our county residents with the feral cat population. In addition, we place animals in need into loving homes or rescues.

Meet Koda, a truly distinguished 10-year-old Husky ready to enjoy his golden years! 💛

This stunning senior has a heart of gold. He has a wonderfully expressive and unique personality; he's friendly, but he definitely knows what he likes! Because he prefers a calm, quiet life, he would thrive in a home with older, considerate teens or just adults who will respect his need for peace. He is good with other dogs, but prefers to eat his meals and enjoy his favorite chews in a space all to himself.

Thanks to everyone who came out and supported our vaccination clinic last Saturday — we appreciate you more than we can say!

A huge thank you to the donors, volunteers, and community members who helped make the event run smoothly. Whether you checked people in, held a wiggly pup, kept us organized, or simply showed up with your pets, you helped make a real difference for animals in our community.

💖 Madame Claws – A fierce little lady with a playful spirit and a touch of sass. She’s classy, confident, and always ready to pounce!
🐱 Sir Purrsalot – True to his name, this charming boy starts his motor the moment you look at him. Purrs for days!
🧸 Sir Cuddles – The snuggle king! He’ll curl up in your lap and melt your heart in seconds.
🐾 Sir Clingy – Loves to be near his people and follow them everywhere — because life’s just better together!

All four are 3 months old, litter box trained, and up to date on age-appropriate vaccines. They’re playful, affectionate, and ready to find their forever homes (maybe even in pairs!). 🏡💕

Our Story

The New River Humane Society is a passionate group that is dedicated to serving the needs of community members and animals in Fayette County, WV and beyond. For the past four years, despite astronomical odds against them, this organization has maintained a no-kill status. An average of about 1800 animals enters the facility each year and huge efforts from staff, volunteers, and board members have allowed none of them to be euthanized due to lack of space. All work tirelessly to reunite owners with their pets, adopt animals to new loving homes, secure foster homes, and partner with reputable rescue organizations that aim to help find loving and safe new home for our animals.

Donations is the fuel that keeps us savings animals, so please help us continue what we are doing. Every little bit helps. Thank you for your support.
