TOMORROW IS THE DAY!

I am so proud of our Northern Virginia Veterinary Medical Association/ DC Academy of Veterinary Medicine team and supporters. Together, we surpassed our original fundraising goal and are now making great progress toward our stretch goal!

Beyond the resources that these funds will provide, we are breaking down barriers, destigmatizing mental health conversation, and forming stronger ties within our profession. We are all in this together; let’s all keep talking with one another.

We began this campaign in earnest on September 1, to coincide with Su***de Prevention month. In that short time, I have been touched by the many people who have reached out to courageously and vulnerably share their personal stories. Thank you for trusting me- I will carry those conversations with me during the walk tomorrow. In addition, colleagues have reached out to express interest in helping their fellow colleagues- THANK YOU.

And there is still time to join us! Walkers, donors, and sharers of our campaign- we appreciate your support right up until the walk tomorrow. Please join us! Together, we can do amazing things.

September is Su***de Prevention month.

The Northern Virginia Veterinary Medical Association, together with the DC Academy of Veterinary Medicine, is pleased to be leading a team in the Fairfax, Virginia American Foundation for Su***de Prevention (AFSP) Out of the Darkness Walk.

Many of us have been touched personally by this topic- this year, we want to raise awareness at the local level of this specific challenge that our profession faces and help raise funds for this very worthy cause. This is a chance for our community to come together- hospital and clinic staffs, families, clients, and friends. Please join us!

When: Sunday, September 29th, 2024 (11 AM check in; program at 12:30 PM; event concludes at 2 PM) Rain or Shine

Where: Fairfax City Hall (10455 Armstrong St. Fairfax, VA)
The course is approximately 1.9 miles, mostly paved.

Ways to participate:
• As an event participant (walk with us on September 29 or participate virtually to fundraise and show your support!) Join our team or donate here: https://supporting.afsp.org/index.cfm?fuseaction=donorDrive.team&teamID=346658

On May 10, the NVVMA helped celebrate the 26 new graduates of NOVA’s Veterinary Technology program. Each year, our organization provides the pins for the new graduates and the President is asked to share a few words about the symbolism of the pin and a bit of advice for the graduates. Congratulations to these critically important members of our veterinary practice teams!
