Anyone looking for one or two sweet Catahoula adult pups to adopt. Beautiful dog...
Next: DORY! (Same deal - I know FB won't show this to many accounts so I need your help to make that happen!)
Lowcountry Dog Magazine sent me a text Friday with a screenshot of this kid and a note that said, “Looks like Gracie.” Well, she sure does, right down to her little white toes!
Dory is so friendly and, like her sister, never met a stranger. I asked Jack to come along as I initially thought we had three dogs coming and may need an extra set of hands – plus he never passes up the opportunity to check out anything related to Catahoulas 😊 IMMEDIATELY, Dory approached him and when he leaned down to pet on her she was in heaven!
I told the foster mom I was certain these two were daddy’s girls in their former life and she confirmed for me later in the day they had been living with a single guy :/
Dory is eager to please and watches for cues – and praise. She, too, would be easy to train, I think. They just want love. I can actually see both of them as the same velcro dog we have in Gracie!
Dory is also a young adult, recently spayed, and heartworm negative. She’s dog-friendly and is currently sharing her quarters with Coco (post earlier today).
Dory and Coco found themselves at Colleton County Animal Services when their owner lost housing. They are healthy looking and appear to have been well cared for so I have to imagine it was a heartbreaking decision to surrender them. With Colleton being at more than twice their capacity, The The Bridge Between Animal Rescue stepped in and pulled them to safety when a foster offered to help. The emergency foster’s situation is not optimal, as the girls are having to share outside quarters so we are hoping to move them to a situation where they can be fostered indoors. They can go separately or together – either is great!
In our short time with her at the park yesterday, I found her to be very sweet and friendly. She met kids, loves this one little girl who smelled like sunscreen and summertime, and wasn’t bothered by anything else in the park – she very much had eyes on her fosters and was constantly looking to the humans for direction. Dory worked hard to comply with everything we asked of her, including bench work 😊 They both seemed to thrive on praise!
Dory is also about 45 pounds (guessing)? Her coat is so striking, and her amber eyes have the tiniest blue crack in one of them!
** The immediate goal is to secure an indoor foster home, if not an adopter. As we move into much warmer temps, outdoor kennel fostering isn’t ideal. Let’s be honest, no one wants to be outside for more than a few minutes when it’s hot, and certainly not anyone wearing a fur coat.
If you would like more info or think you can help in some way, please reach out to the The Bridge Between Animal Rescue ASAP. I’ll put their website in the comments, along with a few more photos of sweet Dory from yesterday.
