Muscle Monday 🎉
Who likes horse butts!? 😝 I do!! The Glutes!

The Middle Gluteal is the strongest muscle of the gluteal group and largely shapes the croup of the horse. The Middle Gluteal is a superficial muscle that attaches to the pelvis. Its main function is extending and abducting the hip joint and can also raise the trunk!

In some horses, the muscle tone of the glute is hollow and thus underdeveloped or atrophied.
There can be many other factors that go along with this underdevelopment such as:
- Sacroiliac dysfunction
- Spinal issues
- Saddle/rider seat, Etc.

It is very important to assess your horse in saddle and on the ground so if needed, you can restore proper functionality and build the muscles effectively.

• in-hand agility
• carrot stretches
• loose schooling
