We are sad to hear about the passing of Kimmey Goodson. We have supported her rescue efforts since the beginning, and she did amazing work. Our hearts go out to those closest to her.

It is with the most profound sadness that I have to announce the passing of our founder, leader, and my best friend Kimmey Goodson. Please give us some time to sort through everything. We are dedicated to ensuring the welfare of the cats at the rescue and will be completely transparent on where each and every cat goes.

As of right now we are completely closed to all intakes and adoptions. If there was a cat you were thinking about adopting please message this page directly and do not call or email, as all the contact information went to Kimmey. We do not have access to the email and do not want to intrude on her husband at this time by calling. More information will follow as it becomes available. Please hug your pets and check on your rescue friends as we are not okay. It's okay to not be okay.

A bit of HPAN history! This photo was shared with me tonight by Patti Bradam, who started this whole gig. She and I worked together and wanted to make a difference in local animal welfare. We got our heads together with a few more coworkers and came up with a plan, and here we are, 13 years later! This photo was taken in 2011 at HPAN's first fundraising event. We probably took in less than $50 that day, but I guarantee you a dog or cat got what it needed with that money.

We've grown so much. This week already, we've paid over $1500 in rescue vet bills, and I got two requests tonight for another $2100. We will work as hard as we can to meet these needs. If you'd like to pitch in, I'll add a donate link.

🐾Diesel is available for adoption!

Diesel is estimated 1-2 years, scheduled to be neutered. Has been around cats, unsure about dogs.

This boy will need someone experienced with Great Danes, he NEEDS leash training.

Diesel is staying with his current caretaker, please give us a call to schedule a meet and greet.

All of the dogs have been removed from the property!! But we are currently OVER CAPACITY!!!

Mercury has earned a new title - longest resident at Oak Ridge Animal Shelter. 😭He has been here for 1 year and 6 months! But Mercury isn't crying crocodile tears over this sad situation. No, this happy boy is keeping his chin up, still being a good boy, and hoping that his new family will come through the door any day now. Mercury is so deserving of a better tomorrow. We hope that his new family will see this and come for him soon. ❤

Being part of the One Year Plus Club means Mercury's adoption fee is only $25. He is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and microchipped. A fantastic deal, a fantastic dog, and hopefully soon a fantastic happily ever after. 😍
