Quincy & I trialed at the NW2 level today at Haley Toyota Field in Salem, VA. The day started off cold and blustery. It warmed up a bit by the afternoon, but the wind persisted throughout the day, giving the searches an interesting challenge. Our first search of the day was Exteriors with 3 hides. Quincy was a bit nervous, which is typical for her first search of the day, but was able to find all 3 hides. As we continued on to other searches, she became more confident. We got pronounced in the remaining 4 searches, including 2nd place in Containers and the cherry on top was that she ended up coming in 1st Place Overall and winning the High in Trial tin of all the swabs in the trial! I am so proud of her! It was also super amazing to share today with Angie Young and Groot, who also did an amazing job (I'll let them tell their story).

Quincy has had a difficult nose work journey. She had such a hard time being able to comfortably work in a novel environment. But look how far she's come- last Saturday she ran all 5 searches in PSD's Advanced level at a location she's never been to. She placed in 4 of the 5 searches, earned her Advanced Buildings title and even earned an Iron Nose Award (qualified in all 5 searches she entered for the day). Here she is proudly showing off her ribbons and medallion. I am so proud of her!

Baron ran the one and only search he needed to complete his PSD Scent Dog Excellent title last Sunday- Excellent Distance. It was a super fun search with 2 search areas, 1 hide in each. Baron came in 3rd place! He doesn't like his picture being taken, but he did his best to pose for his awesome accomplishment. Love this dog!!

At least eight dogs have died after swimming in ponds. Likely, liver failure was brought on by ingesting water contaminated with toxic blue-green algae.

To All Tennesseans- this was just reported:

Gov. Bill Lee on Monday issued a two-week statewide order closing non-essential businesses and telling Tennesseans to stay home in an effort to combat the spread of the coronavirus.

The "safer at home" order, filed Monday afternoon, enacts similar restrictions put in place by mayors in Nashville, Memphis, Knoxville and governors in at least 30 other states. In recent days, some smaller cities in Tennessee have also implemented such orders.

"This is not a mandated 'shelter in place' order, because it remains deeply important to me to protect personal liberties," Lee said at a Monday afternoon news briefing.

The order takes effect at 11:59 p.m. Tuesday and lasts through April 14, during which time only essential businesses are to continue operating and residents are to stay home "as much as possible," per Executive Order 22, which was filed Monday with the Tennessee Secretary of State's office.

Please share.

SAVE THE DATE!!

Looking optimistically ahead to when we all get back to our new "normal", I just submitted an application to host a PSD trial on October 10 & 11 at the Seymour Intermediate School. This one is right next door to the Primary school where I've held trials in the past. Still very preliminary, but wanted you all to mark this on your calendars.

I'll post updates as details are ironed out.

Looking forward to being able to get out and have some nose work fun with all of you!

May PSD Trial in Knoxville POSTPONED

Because I would want everyone to feel safe and enjoy themselves at my trial, so I am going to postpone it for a few months. I am going to wait until things settle down before rescheduling it, but I'm hoping it will be in July or August. Because we don't know when the trial will be, it will not be open for registration on Sunday. I'll post updates on this page as they become available.

Thank you for your understanding and stay well.

We just got approved to host a PSD trial in Knoxville on May 9 & 10! Stay tuned for more trial details. I'll also post when the premium becomes available.

So proud of my 12-year-old girl, Moo! We were at K-9 Scent Crews' PSD trial in Gallatin last weekend. It was Moo's first attempt at the Excellent level. She had a rough day Saturday- her arthritis was really bothering her and having to go up lots of stairs really did her in. But she managed to qualify in 4 of her 5 searches (the 5th search NQ was my fault!) AND came in 3rd place in one of the searches. After a good night's sleep and with the awesome folks at the trial re-routing the flow a bit for Moo on Sunday, she once more qualified on 4 out of 5 searches (again, MY fault on the NQ!!) but pulling off all 1st places in the 4 qualifying searches and even finishing Excellent Distance in under 2 seconds! So, I guess she told me she wasn't ready to retire from trialing just yet!

A heartfelt "Thank You" to the K-9 Scent Crew, the judges (Cindy Martin, Joyce Shorter, Allison Andrews, and Margaret Trudrung), and all wonderful volunteers and friends that helped Moo have such a successful day!
