Please come be a part of our blood drive honoring Dr. Mike Fanikos! Dr. Mike was diagnosed with leukemia in September. As part of his treatment, he has repeatedly needed to receive platelet transfusions. We are all very optimistic for Mike to make a full recovery, however, he has a long road ahead of him. Please show your support for Mike and donate at Medic’s Mobile Blood Unit at our hospital on Tuesday, November 26 from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. It is with a heavy heart that we share that Trix our beloved hospital cat has crossed the rainbow bridge. He was a tough old man who was battling IBD, pancreatitis, and diabetes. In recent months he has withered away weight wise and has having great difficulty reaching his favorite perches. Everyday was increasingly a struggle for him and we decided the humane thing to do was to let him go. His final day with us we spoiled him as best we could and he passed surrounded by his family.

Sooooo…we are planning on trying to open tomorrow, Friday, January 19. However, things are already looking a little scary out there with a “wintery mix” coming down. We will try to assess the situation first thing in the morning, and make a decision based on the conditions out there. Stay warm.

Day 3 of Oak Ridge Staff captivity. Everyone is getting a little stir crazy, but do not feel confident leaving their homes since the roads surrounding them are snow and ice covered. We again will be closed Thursday, January 18. We are so sorry for the inconvenience, but do not want to risk the safety of our staff. We want to be there more than you know. We are hoping (and praying) to be back on Friday.

Sooooo…It seems that the frigid temps have worsened conditions out there. Out of concern for the safety of all we have made the tough decision to remain closed today, Wednesday, January 17th. Stay home. Stay warm. Stay safe.
