Shout out to our amazing vet assistant, Michaela! 🌟

Today, Michaela saved a bunch of very newly born possums after their mom was tragically killed in a car accident. On Michaela’s way to work, she found the little ones and with the collaborative effort of our team, we made a makeshift incubator for them. During her lunch break, she took them to the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center (WRC) to ensure they receive the care they need.

We’re so proud of Michaela for her compassion and dedication. 🐾❤️

All creatures great and small deserve our care. 🌎✨

This poor pup had an allergic reaction to an insect. She came in miserable, but we were able to help her.

Just like humans, dogs can have allergic reactions to various things like insect bites, foods, or even plants! If your pet shows similar symptoms, give us a call right away! We saw her again recently for a follow up appointment, and we were pleased to see she was back to perfect!

Maegan holds firm to the belief of treating others how she wants to be treated. In her free time, she cherishes family moments, enjoys traveling, skiing, biking, and taking leisurely walks. Some of you may recall Dazjah Samuels, our first extern, who joined the Silver Lake team last April.

Well... we’re thrilled to share that Dazjah has graduated from veterinary school and successfully passed her North American Veterinary Licensing Exam! 🎓🐾

Even more exciting, she will be joining the Hometown Veterinary Partners team at a soon-to-be-announced location later this year.

Please join us in congratulating Dr. Samuels on her incredible achievements and welcoming her home to our extended family. We couldn’t be more proud! 🌟

Dr. Scott Hammel, DVM, MS, Diplomate ACVS, leads our specialty surgery services, including orthopedic surgery and cruciate ligament repair. With extensive experience and expertise, Dr. Hammel provides our hospital the ability to help pets with more severe surgical conditions. Dr. Hammel’s passions include soft tissue surgery, pain management, joint stabilization, and fracture repair.

Dr. Paige Campe is a small animal veterinarian whose approach focuses on warm and compassionate care. Her special interests are preventative medicine, animal behavior, and client education. 🐈🩺🐕

🐾MEET DR. PAIGE
Dr. Paige grew up in Mankato, MN before attending the University of Wisconsin-River Falls where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science. She went on to work as a veterinary assistant in both equine medicine and shelter medicine before attending veterinary school at the University of Minnesota.

Dr. Paige’s passion for animals extends outside of veterinary medicine. She lives with her fiance and their 3 cats, 2 birds, and 1 dog. She also enjoys riding horses, being in nature, and traveling to new places. On the weekends, you might find her cheering on her niece at a hockey game!

We want to give a special shoutout to Sally, who is celebrating her last cancer treatment today.

When we asked if she would ring the bell to mark this milestone, Sally told us that her hospital no longer follows this tradition. Dr. Abi and our team decided to create a special moment for her instead. We surprised Sally by letting her ring the bell at our front desk, surrounded by cheers and applause.

Dear friends of our hospital,

We have exciting news to share, albeit with mixed emotions. After 37 years working as a veterinarian, the time has come for me to slow down and head into retirement. To that end, I joined Hometown Veterinary Partners in November and have set my retirement date for May 15th.

It has been a joy and honor to work with you all for over 20 years. Your pets and your families have been an important part of my life. Now it is time to get outside to enjoy my garden, birding, canoeing, and other adventures.

Dr. Abigail Maynard and her team will be here as Hometown Veterinary Partners Silver Lake to continue to serve you and your beloved pets.

We are also looking forward to celebrating my retirement with you on Tuesday, May 14 from 4:00-6:00 pm at the Silver Lake Animal Hospital. We will have refreshments available.
