Many years ago some lovely people brought me a dog that was adopted off of craiglist and she came to me for aggression. Except she wasn’t aggressive she was just mishandled by whom ever had tossed her about. I remember that day so clearly, because it was a day I fell head over heels for this dog. Whenever I would do a demo, train a behavior, or simply want to show staff how to train anything, Nikki was who I always picked. It became a question asked in order to win prizes, who would Becky pick to train ANY behavior the quickest. It was always Nikki. There have been two dogs in my entire career that I have felt we shared a telepathic language when it came to training Nikki and Mckinnley. She always knew exactly what I was trying to teach her even if she didn’t know the behavior she would get there faster than any other dog. I know her health has been rough in her lifetime and she had a wonderful family that truly were such inspiring advocates for her and her health. That is actually the inspiration in our new wellness programs for owners to be able to speak to their vets about their dogs care. Three of Nikki’s closest friends were Bettis, Sam, and Max. The gang is all back together, when it thunders I will smile and think they are breaking stuff like they did here when they played like rugby players. You see Nikki was the most beautiful dog, you could look at her and know she was female, but she played with the big boys and they needed to pack a lunch if they wanted to face off with her. My favorite memory of her was the moment Bettis would see her he would act like he puppy and they would clear the yard of playhouses just by slamming into them. We are so lucky to spend so much time watching that level of joy, I realize this sorrow is paying the dues of that gift. We have just had to pay a lot of dues in such a short time. I am so glad they lived a full life, I just miss them and I think I always will.
(The first picture if the very first picture I had of her and I remember thinking how stunning she was)

Sniffari’s Walk on the Wildside is open every day this week!

And next week… we’re going global
We’ll be introducing 10 brand-new animal scents from different parts of the world — smells your dogs have never experienced before!

Did you know?
When a dog sniffs an odor they’ve never encountered, it actually builds new pathways in their brain.
That means every new smell is more than enrichment — it’s a workout for their mind, boosting confidence, curiosity, and cognitive health.

Come let your dogs explore, learn, and sniff their way around the wild side this week — before the world tour begins!

If we look at training our dogs as a way to be able to include them in our lives. The more behaviors Kale knows that help keep him safe, the more he gets to share my life with me. For my dogs farm safety training is vital so that they can have fun and I feel confident I can keep them safe.

This year changed us.
It stretched us. It taught us. And it broke our hearts.

At ABC we were honored to hold space for so many unforgettable “Best Last Days.”
We laughed, we loved, we made magic with treats, sunshine, and belly rubs—and yes, tissues, too.

But the hardest lesson came through loss.
We said goodbye to three incredible daycare dogs this year, all far too soon, all to cancer.
In the years that came before we have lost many dogs to ailments. I lost both of my beloved Shepherds to cancer, another dog to kidney disease, and one very special 14-year-old teacher of resilience and healing to old age after a life that showed every dog here how to rise above pain.

Those losses sparked a new promise in me.

I realized something deeply personal:
I don’t ever want to lose another dog—another of my kids—without knowing we did absolutely everything possible to support their wellbeing, their longevity, and the humans who love them.

So for a very selfish reason…
I began a journey to bring wellness to ABC.
Not just on the final day—but every single day. I wanted to be able to be a resource that preserves health and worked in cooperation to make sure their bodies and minds moved into age with clarity, a body that functioned to preserve quality of life not just quantity and most importantly a life with as little pain as possible. And because i always, want one more day with them.

And that brings us to our biggest evolution yet:

In 2026, we are integrating whole-dog wellness into our daycare experience in a way that is completely unique.

We will continue to provide what you already trust us for:

Energy outlets & enrichment
Positive training support
Safe social connection
Sensory, physical, nutritional, occupational, and social enrichment

But now… we’re adding more:

Unbiased nutrition guidance based on real education—not food company funding—with options that support and prioritize your dog’s individual needs and promotes longevity within your budget.

Access to world-class research, professors, chiropractors, Docters and specialists bringing wellness modalities never before available in this part of the country to the paws of your fur kids.

Bodywork support & learning opportunities for dogs who enjoy it and feel safe with it

Owner empowerment courses that help you “champion your vet visits,” attach your superhero cape, and stand beside your dog armed with knowledge instead of fear

Emergency prevention and response training so you feel prepared, not helpless

Cognition and mobility preservation plans to keep minds sharp and movement comfortable, for as long as possible

End-of-life planning support when the time eventually comes—because we’re not just here for the joy… we’re here for the goodbye, too.

We want you to feel supported.
We want your dogs to feel seen, safe, and cared for.
We want to help you, help them—not someday, but every day.

So today, we invite you into this new chapter with us.

Tell us:
How can we support you? Empower you? Show up for your dogs in a bigger way?

We are ready.
We are listening.
And we are honored to fight for the wellness of every dog who walks through our door. Even the ones that aren’t lucky enough to, we extend these opportunities to the animals who are waiting for their forever.

Here’s to fewer emergencies, longer lifespans, stronger humans, healthier dogs, and a joy filled life with your dog.

With humbling gratitude to the dogs I had to loose to make me stand up and realize the power we had to evolve and be the resource we were meant to be.
To the humans whose tears mirrored my own and made me realize their was something worse then saying goodbye to a fur kid, that was knowing the heartache their absence would have on a family.
We are here, we will be your village, together we will make sure your fur kids have a bounce in their step because of you.

Do you suspect your dog is having circulation issues? Does your dogs neck feel tense? Does your dogs Bloodwork or urinalysis show issues with the kidneys?

Bodywork on a dog’s neck can support bladder issues and whole-body congestion because the neck is a major neurologic and lymphatic pathway, not just a mobility structure. The vagus nerve travels through this region, helping regulate the parasympathetic nervous system, which influences pelvic tone, organ communication, and the body’s ability to rest and release. The fascia of the neck connects into the thoracic inlet, diaphragm, abdomen, spine, and pelvic diaphragm — the same structural chain that affects bladder nerve signaling and fluid circulation. The neck also houses key lymph nodes, and just below it, the thoracic inlet is where lymphatic fluid drains into the circulatory system. When this area is gently released, it helps the body move stagnant fluid, reduce systemic inflammatory pressure, and improve nerve communication from the brainstem down the spinal pathways that influence urinary function. In simple terms, neck work helps the bladder by calming the nervous system, easing fascial restriction, and improving the body’s ability to clear congestion and send organ signals efficiently. When combined with thoracic inlet and lumbosacral support, it creates powerful, whole-body relief from the top down.

01/02/2026

When working the thoracic inlet, you might notice a dog suddenly open their eyes wide, lift their head, and move or rotate their ears. This is often an orientation response — the dog registering a significant internal sensory shift, not pain. The thoracic inlet is a highly neurologic and lymphatic convergence point, so even gentle touch can stimulate vagus nerve branches, fascial decompression, or fluid movement. That brief moment of alertness is the body saying, “I feel something changing, let me take note,” and it commonly appears as increased awareness or scanning. When you see it, a short pause allows the dog to integrate the release before continuing. In bodywork, responses like this are valuable feedback — a sign the nervous system is engaged, circulation is shifting, and the body is beginning to respond. Listening to these small communications helps us stay co-regulated, supportive, and effective in every session.
