Arie,Arie has been lightly started under saddle as was doing great until she came up sore on her front after being put to work. Arie became sore on the front and we noticed possible pigeon fever on her chest. After a vet visit, pigeon fever was confirmed and xrays show the need for shoes on the front. Arie will be going back into rehab for her pigeon fever with her new front shoes until she can come back into training. This sweet mare has been great during all of this, she is sweet, easy to handle, good with her feet, excellent ground manners and loves attention. She is easy to saddle, groom, and has a great start on her riding career. Look for her in the spring.
If you would like to help with Ari’s vet and rehab expenses, we have attached a donate button below. Thank you all.
Update
We are so sorry, but the post was incorrect regarding Ruby having pigeon fever . We will be posting Arie as she has pigeon fever and is currently off the adoption list.
Update on Ruby...
This mighty little coming 4 year old filly, standing at 13.1 hh, has had a couple of quick rides on her. She is very sure footed and is learning how to control her body with a rider. She is very light and responsive. Ruby is easy to groom, tack up and great with her feet. Ruby was shy and apprehensive when she first came in, she didn’t want to be groomed or touched for that matter, now she is at the gate waiting for you. This little girl is really going to be something with the right person. She will require a smaller rider because of her deminutive size.

Here's what OER Trainer Dani Jeitz has to say about him...
"Core had his first real ride yesterday, he is very soft, responsive and willing. This horse has come a long way. He’s easy to handle on the ground, groom, saddle, fly spray, good with his feet, etc. He bits up nicely, pays attention while being worked from the ground and is taking to being ridden like a champ. This horse is very athletic and could go in any direction, I can’t wait to get him out on trail. He does still have a couple of quirks when he doesn’t understand something but will come right back to you. Core will be an excellent partner with more training."
We have also posted a video of his movement in the comments below.
This is Vanilla, a 30+ year-old mare. According to her owners, she was a PMU mare before they had her. Vanilla is crippled due to improper hoof care and other issues.
Unfortunately, due to her age and her condition it was best humanly euthanize her. We want to thank Sweet River Equine Clinic for always being compassionate when this difficult decision is made. Rest in peace sweet lady.
Pregnant Mares’ Urine (PMU)
PMU is used to produce estrogen and hormone-replacement drugs such as Premarin, Prempro, and Premphase, and DUAVEE, a “Prempro Lite” which contains Premarin. PMU drugs are made by keeping mares constantly pregnant and collecting their estrogen-rich urine.
It was a thrill to have Brandi Lyons here at Oakdale Equine Rescue. We cannot thank her enough!

Misty and Ruby are getting a great start with their training at Durham Ferry Outdoor Education School!
Misty is the surviving twin born to Falcon seen in the video below wearing a tarp as she calmly walks with one of the student trainers. She is such a sweet filly!
Ruby recovered well from her hernia surgery and has now been introduced to a saddle while lunging. You can watch both videos of Ruby in the comment section.
Please keep watching this page for updates and availability for adoption!
This beautiful the Mustang came in from San Joaquin County Sheriffs Animal Control. He was loose on East liberty/Elliot in Galt. He is very lame and will be going to training for handling so we can get him into the vet. If you have any information on this, Horse, please contact Janine at 209-614-2338.
Angie is available for adoption! Angie is a 19 year old quarter horse mare who is proving to be a good partner under saddle! She is very sweet and mild mannered while riding her. She could use some reinforcement with her tying manners and ground manners but she minds well once she’s corrected. We think Angie would do best with at least an intermediate level rider as she does need correcting on the ground. She is up to date on dental, vaccinations, and worming and is ready for her new home. Angie’s adoption fee is $2000. Please visit the website to fill out an adoption application form.
