Ever wonder how staff stays up to date on the newest medications and treatments? At VCA we do what we like to call a "lunch and learn" where we all eat lunch together and learn about new ways to help our patients. Last month we learned about a new light therapy called Phovia. Phovia will be coming to VCA in the near future and can be used as a treatments for skin infections and wound healing. Vet assistant Sky and CSR supervisor Lauren took the lead learning about how the therapy works and how to use it properly! We are excited to bring this new device to the hospital so we can have a new way to continue providing stellar care to our patients!

With the warmer weather all kinds of critters are out and about, especially the small mammals like skunks! Skunks are mostly nocturnal so they usually come out at night. Skunks who feel threatened, possibly by a curious pet, will spray the threat as a defense mechanism. Pictured below is a few tips on what to do if your pet gets sprayed: If your pet gets sprayed in the face or eyes contact your veterinarian right away!

Sweet Okoye needs a home! One of our doctors partnered with Home Again to foster a litter of puppies and sweet Okoye is still looking for her fur-ever home! This cutie is playful and friendly with other dogs! She loves to play with her toys and her doggie friends. She is very smart and potty training is a work in progress.
