Animal Welfare Bill in the UK is up for its second reading end of November. This bill will amend current legislation on the import of dogs by decreasing the number of dogs and increasing the age that can travel under non-commercial regulations, require external parasite treatment, increasing the post-rabies wait time to 12 weeks, deny advanced pregnancies and all dogs that have had ear or tail cropping. This bill will also voices concern for illegal puppy smuggling and the import of stray dogs from other countries. More information here: https://www.bva.co.uk/take-action/pet-imports/.

We’re supporting the Animal Welfare (Import of Dogs, Cats and Ferrets) Bill which could help end puppy smuggling, ban imports of animals with mutilations, and reduce the risk of some diseases being imported.
