Halloween is almost here. Remember if you take your dogs out, keep them on a leash as some costumes may frighten them. Also don't let them eat any chocolate. Cat owners need to remember to bring in your cats, especially black cats. Be safe out there, have fun!

Since we have no new photos of real dogs at the Park, this one will do. It didn't move or bark and it doesn't need to go to the groomers, but will occasionally need a trim. Added to our to do list! Have a great weekend dog-gone it!

When the Dog Park was opened more then 5 years ago, there were Boxwoods lining all the sidewalks, but after years of being peed on they died. The 2 front entrance beds required mulch and weeding often. The Green Team recommended it be refurbished as grass for less cost & maintenance. Since Green Team is small and without enough funds to do it, Pineview Veterinary Hospital graciously offered to cover the cost and completed the project. Shout out to PVH.🐕

Have a great Labor Day weekend. Remember to make sure you pick up after your pet, so others can enjoy a p**p free visit!...

Hounds with 2 Horsemen jumping at Ladew Topiary Gardens near Baltimore are so fun , we should try and create a few dogs from bushes. But how long it would take for one to grow and be trimmed to look like a dog? And how would we keep real dogs from peeing on them?
The bottom photo shows both horsemen, the Fox is out front of the dogs out of the photo.

Its been a while since anything was posted, so its time to share about the Dog Park!
Volunteers with the Oakland Heritage Foundation Green Team have been tiding up the dog park ever since it opened May of 2018. Team members tied wastebags along the fence, maintained the flower beds and reported any issues to the Town maintenance crew.
The back 2 flower beds needed some freshening up. But since the Green Team has few members, Team Chair Lisa Baker called in the Boy Scouts. On a hot July evening Boy Scout Troop 1 showed up to do the job, they were finished in about 30 minutes. The Green Team used some of its funds to purchase the load of mulch and the Scouts did the work.
According to the Scout Leader, completing service projects for the community and the environment is a big part of scouting and this project contributed to the troops service hours.
The Green Team is a volunteer group that helps enhance and make Oakland a more beautiful place to live and visit. The team raises the majority of the funds for the projects.
Oakland Boy Scout Troop 1 is led by Scoutmaster Bruce Spinnenwebber and is chartered by the Deep Creek Lions Club. l to r- Joshua Vose, Ryan Pyska, Daniel Helbig, Gabriel Hunt and Green Team Chair Lisa Baker.
