Its been a while since anything was posted, so its time to share about the Dog Park!
Volunteers with the Oakland Heritage Foundation Green Team have been tiding up the dog park ever since it opened May of 2018. Team members tied wastebags along the fence, maintained the flower beds and reported any issues to the Town maintenance crew.
The back 2 flower beds needed some freshening up. But since the Green Team has few members, Team Chair Lisa Baker called in the Boy Scouts. On a hot July evening Boy Scout Troop 1 showed up to do the job, they were finished in about 30 minutes. The Green Team used some of its funds to purchase the load of mulch and the Scouts did the work.
According to the Scout Leader, completing service projects for the community and the environment is a big part of scouting and this project contributed to the troops service hours.
The Green Team is a volunteer group that helps enhance and make Oakland a more beautiful place to live and visit. The team raises the majority of the funds for the projects.
Oakland Boy Scout Troop 1 is led by Scoutmaster Bruce Spinnenwebber and is chartered by the Deep Creek Lions Club. l to r- Joshua Vose, Ryan Pyska, Daniel Helbig, Gabriel Hunt and Green Team Chair Lisa Baker.
