🆘 Bay Area bunnies are in crisis! 🆘

Did you know there’s a surge of abandoned rabbits in the San Francisco Bay Area? Oakland Street Bunz is working overtime to rescue these vulnerable animals, but they can’t do it alone!

Oakland Street Bunz is a dedicated rabbit rescue providing loving care for bunnies who’ve been dumped on the streets of Oakland. These social creatures shouldn’t face a life of fear and danger. 🚨🦎 One of our rescue partners recently stepped in to help 19 geckos who were in an urgent situation and needed immediate rescue. These poor little ones were found dehydrated and emaciated, and they’ll need a lot of love and care to get back to health. ❤️‍🩹

They're dedicated to giving them all the support they need before they’re ready to find their forever homes. They would love any help or support as they work tirelessly to get them setup and healthy again!

We've had lots of intakes in Dec and Jan and a lot less new foster homes and adopters - and with peak fundraising, we haven't been posting as many stories about them. Time to catch up! This is Tippy, a wee splay legged budgie who came in last week. Tippy is being treated at the vet.

If you'd be open to accommodating splay legged budgies, we have some more coming in that will need homes. Please reach out! They often need soft flannel liners changed daily and soft, flat places to land on play areas.

Happy New Year! Since there are lots of new followers, it seems like a great time to reintroduce myself. I’m Michelle, an exotic pet sitter based in Oakland, California. I’ve been a Registered Veterinary Technician for 30 years (it sounds pretty crazy to say that - time flies when you’re having fun). I’ve worked with all types of exotic pets and zoo animals, and have been lucky enough to work with wildlife around the globe. I’ve had exotic pets for my entire life, one of my earliest childhood memories being a little pet budgie named Petey who sang so beautifully. I’m pretty sure Petey started me down the path of becoming a full-fledged bird nerd! 🦜
