Water horse or part pig? š¤
Jade wouldnāt say if he was āroad readyā or not. Just that heās well in his way. Under 30 rides for Orion and his 5th time ponying another horse.
While catching the horses for a walk the other day Orion spooked at the halter. After a quick assessment, it was determined that the shade tarp blowing in the wind was what was giving him fits. After about 5 minutes of hanging out under the horse eating tarp we enjoyed some circles around the paddock, superhero style with a cape and everything. Tova obviously thought the whole situation was hilarious and wanted Orion to play with her.
Please note: Willow Barre Farms does not recommend any inexperienced horse owners or beginners to do any sort of training or schooling in an area with uncontrolled horses.
He's taking this like a champ. We are blessed to have this smart guy on our team. Jade's dad is already requesting his services to move a few logs and small trees.
I told him multiple times throughout the lesson to not roll in my saddle. What does he do? He rolls. At least he had a great time!
When you get new equipment in it doesn't really matter what time it is. All you wanna do is go play. This is Orion's first time being in long lines as well as Being ground driven. Getting to know Orion over the past few months it's become more and more obvious he's going to do better in carriage work. He will still be giving lessons to beginners, but he will excel on trail with the cart. Such a smart horse to pick up this quickly. Also please note it's a lot more difficult to film with my phone when I have double lines.
Blind horse? What blind horse?
Great lesson with Jenni today. Worked on lunging and figuring out how to do multiple things at once. As well as stirrup less balance training.
Orion's very first trail ride āļø still not as light in the face as I'm wanting. But I think we will sky rocket forward once my cavesson/surcingle and long lines get it it will be no big deal to get straighter and lighter. Right now he's just not sure where to put his feet
Never had a bit in his mouth. Never been beaten. Never "had the buck rode out of him". He's been started at his own pace. I think it's safe to say he's going to be great. Good job Jenni. No fear in this kid. She hasn't ridden in about 4 years.
Had an eventful day with Orion. After his blow up he settled down very nicely. Riding outside any kind of fence for the first time. Attempting some trails this weekend. Great job Orion. Plus a big thanks to my wonderful camera woman.
Orion had a very trying day today. New saddle with a back cinch and a rope along with new Smb/bell boots. When asked to pick up a trot he completely blew up. I thought I was at a rodeo he was rounding up and kicking up so high. Who knew this sweet fella had it in him. Once he got all that energy out he was following me around. Lunging in both directions and stopping on cue. No fuss no muss. Super proud of our resident therapy horse in training.
ingenuity at it's finest. When all else fails just MacGyver a solution. Pallets make great harrows by the way
