FOAS Executive Director Announcement
The Friends of Oakland Animal Services (FOAS) Board of Directors is thrilled to announce that our new Executive Director will be none other than Ann Dunn. Ann is soon leaving her position as Director of Oakland Animal Services after four years of diligent work and stellar accomplishments. After a well-deserved break, she will assume her new role with FOAS on August 5, 2024.
Many of you know Ann from her work at OAS and her previous role as founder and Executive Director of Cat Town. She is well-known and respected throughout our community as a strong advocate and a visionary leader. We are grateful and excited that she will be working in partnership with the FOAS board and staff, OAS staff and volunteers, and all our supporters to more fully realize our mission of bringing health, happiness and homes to Oakland’s animals.
Trish Roque, FOAS Board President, says: “This is a pivotal time in FOAS's history: we have an incredibly supportive community; our partnership with Oakland Animal Services has never been stronger; and now, with Ann's leadership, I believe FOAS's impact will continue to be transformational.”
And from Ann Dunn: “FOAS supporters have made it possible for Oakland Animal Services to experience the transformation it has achieved over the last few years, including seeing the lowest euthanasia rate in OAS's history. I am thrilled and honored to join the incredibly passionate board and staff of FOAS to support the new OAS Director, Emily Wood, and her team as they continue to make OAS a model municipal shelter!”
We are eagerly looking forward to keeping you informed of FOAS’ many future accomplishments under Ann’s leadership!

Monkey is reunited with her dad!
Meet Monkey! This little nugget came into our care recently, and she was very stressed and scared in the shelter. Monkey had a microchip, but it took a bit of sleuthing by our team and help from our friends at the The San Francisco SPCA, who originally implanted the chip, to track down Monkey's human, Matthew.
Matthew came right over to redeem Monkey, who he believes was stolen from him in San Francisco - and check out this happy reunion! We wanted to share this video to show how important microchips are, and also to remind folks to keep your microchip contact information up to date so that you can quickly be reunited with your pet!
Monkey's microchip info is now fully up to date so that if this ever happens again, she and Matthew can be reunited sooner!

You need to stop by and pick out your new feline friend!
You can scroll through all the profiles on our website first (tinyurl.com/OASCats) or you can just come by and a matchmaker will introduce you to your purrfect match.
We'll be waiting for you this weekend! We're open noon to 3 both days, with no appointment needed!
It's only $20 to adopt and pairs are two for one! That $20 includes spay or neuter surgery, a microchip, and vaccines, in other words, a total bargain!

Adoptable Pomeranian mix Camelo
Introducing Camelo! This smol boy is one of our longest-term adoptable small dogs, still waiting for exactly the right home. In the meantime he's a volunteer favorite, in love with love! Though he's 7 years old, he's still got a lot of puppy energy and sass, as you'll see in this video.
Camelo's a bit shy at first, so we're looking for experienced small dog people to take him in. To meet Camelo, check out his profile and click the link to apply to meet him by appointment only.

We are thrilled to introduce you to the three bunnies currently in foster care with @oakrockanimalpreserve! Oak Rock Animal Preserve is a wonderful family-run and veterinarian-led 501(c)(3) nonprofit animal rescue organization, dedicated to providing a forever sanctuary for animals. They have even rescued pigeons from us before! 🦜🐾🐇 Butterscotch 🐇This sweet girl started off shy but has since blossomed, especially around kids! She’s been a litterbox superstar and is truly affectionate. While she’s not the biggest fan of Spot and Pansy (yet to be introduced), she’s a little hay stasher, pulling it all out on the ground and into her litterbox – quite the adorable mischief-maker! 🐾❤️🐇 Spot 🐇Meet the lively Spot! She’s a chew-happy bunny, so we indulge her with lots of cardboard to nibble on. Spot loves munching from the top of her hay feeder and then adorably napping inside it! She’s got us all figured out – when breakfast is late, she voices her discontent by going outside the litterbox. But when she’s happy, she quietly sits in our laps, craving pets and treats (though sometimes your finger may be mistaken for one in her excitement!). 😄🥕🐇 Pansy 🐇Curious and interactive, Pansy is a social butterfly! While he isn’t the biggest fan of being held (he lets us know!), he’s quick to investigate and engage with you. He loves exploring and exercising outside of his own space, always eager to see what’s happening around him. Our volunteers adore Pansy for his spirited nature and fascination with everything they do. We suspect he may be interested in getting to know the other bunnies, making introductions an exciting prospect! 🏃♂️🐾We are incredibly grateful for our foster families who generously take in bunnies from the shelter. We could use a few more loving homes! 🏠💕 If you’re interested in fostering and being part of this heartwarming journey, click the link in our bio for more information on How
