Young Horse Fendi schooling piaffe in hand- we start every work session with this to get her using the hind legs correctly underneath herself.
Coach Anne Gribbons told us we have to start doing the in-hand work both directions, so here I am, awkward as hell, to the right.
This is progress. Look back a few weeks to see where we were in unwrapping Dante’s anxiety on the Piaffe & Passage. Here we are starting to work on transitions under the watchful eye of coach Anne Gribbons Knoll Dressage developing more sit in the piaffe (while not letting Dante get worried,) and starting to build power into the passage. So proud of his progress!

Very proud of Dante for staying quiet & on my aids as we look for a bigger stride in the 2x changes. He used to get really wild in any sequence changes so this is huge progress for him! What a good boy. 🫶🏽💖

Dante has some anxiety about piaffe, so I start by putting him in travers to keep him supple since he suspects it’s coming & wants to get tense. Then I straighten him & gently ask for the half steps. I’m looking for evenness left & right, & consistent activity behind. We will add a little more tempo & engagement to it when he gets completely comfortable with the work he’s showing here.
We have not been good about posting lately! I promise, we will do better. Here’s a quick video of fabulous Dutch Riding Pony Magnum doing some extracurricular activity. Magnum was also top Pony in the country at 3rd & 4th levels this year! Talk about a show pony 🤩🫶🏽

Ever wondered why some horses load so easily and others always seem to struggle?? Here’s a quick video of 3 month old Tetris learning to load. Sound on for some laughs. I left in the first effort, where she says no, then the next two that show some progressive success. Not sure how other people do it, but I teach my horses to load with one person, so you’re never in a situation where you’re solo & can’t get someone on a trailer. I use a tapping stick & sort of annoy them til they start walking on. Anyway- I’m proud of this wee one & the basic work we put on the horses. This foundation is a gift to all the future handlers in Tetris’s life! Absolutely outstanding clinic with Anne Gribbons at Revel Ranch this weekend! It was fun to get a couple of the young horses out, in addition to those more advanced. Here’s baby Lulu at 30 days under saddle, handling the 25 auditors and clinic hubbub like a champion. 🤩
