Bubbles
We needed a little warm up break (ok, mostly me š) so we came in for some bubbles and inside play.
Mat training and The Cup Game with Tucker.
Beating the heat with some bubble fun
More fun with the Thursday bunch
When we transition inside, the dogs are very excited, so we do a calming activity to settle the mood. This is a simple skill with a targeting stick (or my hand if they donāt like the stick). They just need to touch their nose to the red ball at the end to earn a treat. Then we can go about our business in a much calmer way!
Edit- Oh no, I skipped Nina and did Tucker twice! Donāt worry I made it up to her after. š
Christmas Challenge! š
Can your dog stay on their āplaceā while you wrap a present?
Ever wish your dog could clean up after themselves? Here I am using shaping -reinforcing small manageable steps- to teach Whiskey how to put his toys away. Shaping can take time and patience, but itās so great to see the dog get it!
Hazel, the lab pup, is still feeling a little overwhelmed by the bigger dogs. A fun game of ball with a smaller dog is perfect for allowing her time to decompress and build confidence. š
Nala (white) has been attending regularly for about a month. She felt ready to play for the first time today, and that made my heart happy!! ā¤ļø
Paper Plate Recall game with Whiskey
Remember Charlie, the shy cocker spaniel? Heās come out of his shell and is having a blast for his first boarding stay! ā¤ļø
Brain work! Toss some kibble or treats in the grass, and let your dog have some fun sniffing it out.
Bodhi has been working hard on ācooperative careā with nail trims and has come a long way from mouthing at hands and pulling away. Notice he gets a reward after each paw when he doesnāt pull away, and I donāt trim each time. Allowing the tap of the clippers also earns a reward because thatās all he was able to handle to start (and before that I just moved the clippers towards his paw). He was also taught to give me his paw so that he has that choice. It takes a lot of little steps, but nail trims can become easier without involving any force. Iām proud of him!
This gorgeous weather makes us dance!
