🚨MEOW-ergency🚨 Following a routine wellness visit, Dr. Porter discovered that Sophie had a firm mass in her abdomen on physical exam. Turns out, Sophie had started her own secret stash of 20+ hair ties. (Yes, we counted!) Her emergency exploratory surgery was successful and Sophie is doing great!

Moral of the story: Wellness and preventative care saves lives! Make sure to keep hair ties, rubber bands, and other small objects out of paws reach! 🧶🐾

🚨 Severe Heat Wave Alert: Protect Your Pets! ☀️

Extreme temperatures can be dangerous — especially for pets. Brachycephalic breeds (like Bulldogs, Pugs, Shih Tzus, and Persian cats), seniors, puppies, overweight pets, those with thick coats, and animals with heart or respiratory conditions are especially at risk.

Here’s how to keep them safe:

🚫 Never leave pets in a parked car — even for a minute.
🌡️ Avoid walks on hot pavement — if it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for their paws.
🏠 Keep pets indoors during peak heat hours (10am–6pm).
💧 Provide lots of fresh, cool water.
🧊 Use fans, cooling mats, or damp towels to help them stay comfortable.

⚠️ Watch for signs of heatstroke in pets: excessive panting, drooling, vomiting, weakness, or glassy eyes. Seek emergency veterinary care immediately if you notice any of these symptoms.

You care for pets. We care for you.
And don’t forget to check in with yourself, too. Stay hydrated, rest when you need to, and be kind to your body in this extreme heat.
