Jessica came back during this round of service training and we have been working with her nudging/pawing her owner with his diabetic alert. This is imperative for times when sleeping or when owner is distracted and the alert goes unnoticed. You are doing so well Jessica! ❤️

Newton will have the essential task of finding his handler's mother when he needs her. 🦮 Today owner and head trainer Lori showed our staff how to properly get Newton started on training by using a pair of socks from his handler's mom! So cool!
Luzie to the rescue! ❤️ Although Service Dog, Luzie, went home with her handler, we have some amazing footage of Trainer Mindi working with Luzie on her ability to respond to a simulated meltdown.
Mindi stomps her feet down and you can see Luzie immediately goes into service dog mode! The reassuring presence of a dog that genuinely cares for its handler can be a powerful calming mechanism & can de-escalate a stressful situation.

For some people, stress and anxiety can cause excessive itching and other unwanted behaviors. Service dog in training, Luzie, is working on her nudge command to respond to certain situations, like her handler having an anxious episode.
When Luzie nudges her handler it's not only interrupting the unwanted behavior it is also calming the handler. ❤️ Trainer Mindi did an excellent job with demonstrating Luzie responding and going into service dog mode!
