Jessica is staying with us for her last part of her Service dog training before her certification. We are fine tuning her “place” and “under” commands as well as her alert tasks for low/high blood sugar.

Zeus is a 1 year old chocolate lab that just entered our service dog training program. We’ve already started socializing in large groups of people and building confidence in public. For the holidays, we took a trip to the store and he loved every second of it. We are all so excited to start you on your new journey, Zeus!

Newton, our service dog in training, is beginning to learn how to find his owner's mother using his keen sense of smell! 🐶 Newton will have the essential task of finding his handler's mother when he needs her. 🦮 Today owner and head trainer Lori showed our staff how to properly get Newton started on training by using a pair of socks from his handler's mom! So cool!
Luzie to the rescue! ❤️ Although Service Dog, Luzie, went home with her handler, we have some amazing footage of Trainer Mindi working with Luzie on her ability to respond to a simulated meltdown. Mindi stomps her feet down and you can see Luzie immediately goes into service dog mode! The reassuring presence of a dog that genuinely cares for its handler can be a powerful calming mechanism & can de-escalate a stressful situation.

For some people, stress and anxiety can cause excessive itching and other unwanted behaviors. Service dog in training, Luzie, is working on her nudge command to respond to certain situations, like her handler having an anxious episode. When Luzie nudges her handler it's not only interrupting the unwanted behavior it is also calming the handler. ❤️ Trainer Mindi did an excellent job with demonstrating Luzie responding and going into service dog mode!

Depending on the disability, a service dog can perform life-saving tasks. While they may look cute, service dogs are often the only thing that is standing between their handler and life or death. The dog’s job is to focus on completing tasks for its owner or handler and your behavior should not interfere with this focus. If you see a service 🦮 dog or dog in training : ➡️Do not judge ➡️Do not touch or interact with the dog ➡️Approach the handler, instead of the dog ➡️Do not ask for a demonstration Of course, there is an exception to every rule. If a service dog approaches you without its handler, don’t just shoo it away. You might just save someone’s life. We will meet with you (the potential new client) for an interview to see the needs and wants of a service dog for you and your home. We will then hand select a dog for you if we don’t already have one in our program that matches your needs and train that dog to your specifications. Training to include on leash obedience and all the service dog commands needed for you personally. Training can last as long as 2 months depending on the different training scenarios needed. Cost for this program will include the purchase of the dog as well as all the training before placing the dog with you. It will also include placement training with you and the dog so you can learn how to operate the dog with all of the commands. This training can be done in a group setting or one on one private lessons depending on the situation.
