Important Update: Star Dalmatians of America Summer Litters Postponed to Fall/Winter 2024
Dear Star Dalmatians of America Family and Loyal Followers,
We hope this message finds you well. We wanted to share an important update with our waitlisters and followers regarding our anticipated summer litters.
As some of you know, our family recently made a significant transition from North East Pennsylvania to beautiful Florida. While this move has been an exciting adventure, it has also brought a few challenges. One of the most important has been adjusting our parent dogs to their new environment.
To ensure the best possible conditions for our beloved Star Dalmatians, we’ve made the decision to postpone our summer breeding plans to a later heat cycle this year. This delay will allow our dogs to fully acclimate, reducing stress and leading to healthier, happier puppies.
At Star Dalmatians of America, we are committed to doing what is best for our dogs and the families who welcome our puppies into their homes. Unlike high-volume puppy mills that often prioritize quantity over quality, we carefully choose the best times and conditions to breed. We believe that breeding should never be done just to meet demand. Instead, our focus is on the overall health, well-being, and happiness of our dogs, ensuring that each puppy is raised in a loving and nurturing environment. This commitment to quality over quantity is what sets us apart and ensures that every puppy we raise is a cherished family member, not just a pet.
Our primary focus remains on the health and well-being of our parent dogs. We believe it's crucial for them to be fully settled before they breed, ensuring that they are not under any additional stress. This approach ultimately results in healthier and happier puppies for your family.
For those of you on our waitlist, rest assured that your place is secure. As outlined in our waitlist policy and protocols, which you can find on our Good Dog and other breeder profiles, any pending waitlists will automatically roll over to the next available litter - (in this case, season). We are committed to keeping you updated every step of the way.
Though the delay might be disappointing, we encourage you to view it as an opportunity to prepare even more thoroughly for your new family member. The extra time allows you to plan for your puppy’s arrival and to create the perfect environment for them.
**Here’s a comprehensive list of things to consider and items to prepare for your puppy’s arrival:**
1. **Puppy-Proof Your Home:**
- Secure loose wires and cords.
- Remove small objects that could be swallowed.
- Install baby gates to limit access to certain areas.
2. **Essential Supplies:**
- **Crate**: Choose one that will be large enough as your puppy grows.
- **Bedding**: A comfortable, washable bed.
- **Food and Water Bowls**: Preferably stainless steel.
- **Puppy Food**: High-quality, veterinarian-recommended puppy food.
- **Chew Toys**: To soothe teething and prevent destructive chewing.
- **Collar and Leash**: A properly fitting collar and a sturdy leash.
- **Puppy Pads**: For house-training, especially in the first few weeks.
3. **Health and Safety:**
- **Vet Appointment**: Schedule a vet visit within a week of bringing your puppy home.
- **Pet Insurance**: Consider pet insurance for unexpected medical expenses.
- **Microchip Registration**: Ensure your puppy’s microchip is registered and updated with your contact information.
4. **Training and Socialization:**
- **Training Treats**: Small, soft treats for rewarding good behavior.
- **Puppy Training Classes**: Research and enroll in local classes.
- **Socialization Plan**: Introduce your puppy to different environments, people, and other animals.
5. **Grooming Supplies:**
- **Brush and Comb**: Appropriate for Dalmatian coats.
- **Nail Clippers**: For regular nail maintenance.
- **Shampoo**: Gentle, puppy-safe shampoo for their first baths.
6. **Travel Preparations:**
- **Car Seat or Harness**: For safe travel.
- **Travel Crate**: If you plan to fly with your puppy, invest in an airline-approved crate.
We’re also excited to share that with our litters now planned for late December 2024 to early January 2025, air travel will be available to regions and locations where summer heat typically restricts it. This means that families in areas like Nevada and Arizona will have the opportunity to receive their puppies with greater ease during the cooler fall and winter seasons.
While we understand that waiting can be difficult, we’re confident that the timing and conditions will be just right for welcoming your furever puppy into your home. The cooler temperatures will provide a more comfortable and safe environment for travel, ensuring that your puppy arrives happy and healthy.
Thank you for your continued support, patience, and understanding as we prioritize the well-being of our dogs and, ultimately, the quality of life for your future puppy. We can’t wait to introduce you to the new members of our Star Dalmatians family later this year!
Warmest Regards,
