State legislators are returning to Tallahasse as the session resumes on Wednesday. Please flood the phones with why these are bad bills.
OPPOSE SB 1492-1494-1496 & HB 1581-1583-1585
Thank you all who have been the Grass Roots and the voice of responsible dog owners. This year we have found more draconian bills in the Legislature. Your efforts are needed to OPPOSE.
The most egregious bills proposed in Tallahassee are sponsored by Senator Jonathan Martin from Lee County; SB 1492-1494-1496 and HB 1581-1583-1585 from Representative Linda Chaney, Pinellas County. They want these laws to become effective in July of this year.
While these bills are written with the suggestion to reduce euthanasia, they will not. These bills target every citizen, and you, the responsible AKC Breeder & Exhibitor.
SB 1492 & HB 1581 will:
· Presume that any female puppy over the age of six months is a breeding female
· Require you to obtain a State license with significant fees
· Require numerous fines and penalties with offenses of a misdemeanor (1st litter) or third degree felony (2nd and 3rd litters)
· Require your Veterinarian to sign a notarized cause of death for a female dog
· Require any of your household dogs who now live in the comfort of your living room or bedroom, to name your home as a facility, meeting all requirements of a USDA Facility.
· Allow search/inspection of your home by non-governmental people and confiscation of dogs.
· Mandates government and dog rescue groups will determine the "breeding rules."
· Requires appropriations of ten employees from the Department of Agriculture and Consumer
· Affairs in the amount of $ 350,000 and one hundred law enforcement officers in the amount of $5,200,000.
· Pays people rewards to tattle on their neighbors if they have female dogs or litters.

· Tell her you oppose HB 1581-1583-1585 and respectfully ask to withdraw as promised
Call and write to your local Representative and Senators tell them not to put these bills on the agenda
· Tell your Legislators you OPPOSE these bills as they are outrageous, unreasonable and could never be enforced in the State of Florida with the appropriations described.
Do your part to protect and preserve purebred dogs.
