Dad took me to my room at the Hyatt on the Luggage Cart because I wasn’t feeling up to the walk.

I haven't been feeling well for a couple of months. While the vet said I have some arthritis in my rear legs which hinders my walking, my belly has been severely distended, I have weeping eyes, loss of energy, I can't stop licking and my appetite varies significantly. Dad has been taking me to the vet for over 2 months now. First they took some blood and sent it to the lab because they thought I might have Cushing's Disease but the test result came back negative. So the vet wanted an internist to give me an ultrasound to see if that would show why my belly was so distended (bloated). This revealed that my Adrenal Glands were significantly enlarged. Cushings is usually caused by a tumor in either the Adrenals or Pituitary and causes a significant increase in my production of Cortisol. So with the Ultrasound also pointing to Cushings, my vet decided to do a much more in depth blood test-one she's never used before. After two weeks of anciently waiting for test results, she called today to say that I had atypical Cushing's disease. The reason it was so hard to confirm was because it is the atypical version. I am the first dog she has treated with the atypical version. I will continue to take my pain medication for arthritis and now I have a new medication for Cushing's Disease. I start taking it tomorrow morning and I sure hope it helps with my symptoms. I know its not a cure but I would love it if the symptoms weren't so severe. Dad and Mom are really taking good care of me.

So I put 2 Jobes spikes in my rose bush yesterday. This afternoon Sampson started vomiting and we had no idea why. I went outside for another reason and I noticed he had been digging by the rose bush and the spikes were gone. I checked with an online veterinarian who said he might have some diarrhea along with the vomiting but there wasn’t anything toxic in the spikes that would harm him. Thank Goodness!!
