Even though I don't focus on showing anymore this article is a great read. I work with all levels of riders and try to explain how there are never bad or crazy horses. So called bad and crazy horses are created through impatiens and poor training methods...

I enjoyed reading this article about the Eastern Blue Birds. We have a bird house and watched for the second year a pair of Blue Birds fledge their first brood. Spring is a wonderful time on the farm. The Cardinals are amazing as well.

An unusual friendship developed between a raccoon and a fawn who are both orphans and have been rescued by and live at Texas Fawn and Friends Sanctuary. The two are in each other's company every day without fail, and they even lay by each other in the evenings.

This is absolutely a must see if you love Draft horses. Come see the best of the big hitches. The first week is at the Florida Horse Park. The second week is at The World Equestrian Center.

The stage is soon to be set for the 6th annual Grandview Invitational in Ocala Florida. If you haven't made those travel plans to come down to sunny Florida now is the time! February 1-3 don't miss it!

Is it me, or are horse for sale ads becoming meaningless? They are loaded with pointless statements like "Loves treats" and "Follows me around in the pasture". I see endless narratives about relationship and feelings. I want information about behavior but not that kind.

I want to know if the horse cribs or has other vices. I would like to see a list of skills like leads, transitions and trailer loading. I need to know about any diet quirks or medications. Something about breeding would be nice. I must know if the horse has been trained in English or Western riding.

I once went to see a horse from an ad that said, "Goes English or western." When I got there the horse could do neither, so I asked why they put that in the ad. The owner said, "Because both the English and western saddles fit the horse." That really happened.

And the pictures are often useless. A proper horse ad needs at least one conformation shot taken from the side with the horse standing head up and feet together. A head on shot is always good too. A picture of the horse in their Halloween costume is not helpful.

Most distressing is the fact that about half the ads I have been reading do not include height, the age, gender and price. I have bought a lot of horses over the years and sellers have always told me those four things. What is going on today with sellers? Is this more evidence that every aspect of horsemanship is in decline?
