UPDATE: CRICKET FOUND THE CONSTANT COMPANION HE NEEDS!!!

Hi there! My name is Cricket, and I'm the sweetest little red tabby kitten you'll ever meet. I’m the most affectionate one of my litter, and I just can’t get enough snuggles and attention. If you’re not holding me or giving me love, I might let you know with my adorable little cries — I just want to be close to you all the time! I love toys, especially when they move around, and I can’t resist a good game. When I’m not playing, you’ll often find me on the lanai, soaking up the sunshine, or perched high on my cat tree, watching the world go by. People are my favorite, and I’m always ready to curl up in your lap or follow you around. Life is pretty great when I’m with my humans, and I can’t wait to spend my days making you smile!

Thank you to Traci for fostering this little bundle of joy and being the caregiver he needed to make it through to his big day!

Hi, I'm Sweety. I earned my name because I am a sweetie pie with people I know. Talk to me and call my name, and I may roll over and beg for all the love and attention I can get! I'm an in-your-pocket kind of kitty -- I'm very social, affectionate, and want to spend my time with you! I’m a gentle soul at heart, but I’m not too thrilled about being picked up (I prefer to keep my paws on the ground, thank you). I’m pretty chill with other cats, so if there’s someone else around, I’m happy to share my space. I’ll be your purrfect companion!

Avon's Story....
I'm quite an interesting gal with a unique story. My sister and I were born into a feral colony and had to fend for ourselves as kittens. My little sister was the brave one - I always hid behind her. But everything changed when I was rescued and brought into a warm, loving home. That's where I learned to trust people. My foster mom says I'm a "Hiss then Kiss" kind of girl. I might greet you with a little hiss at first, but give me a chance - talk to me or give me some pets, and I'll quickly turn into a purring bundle of head butts and kisses! Likes: Nuzzling hoomans, my sister- most of the time, lots of attention, and moist food Dislikes: Loud music, busy environments, and no personal space to relax.

Mary Kay's Story...
Hi, I'm Mary Kay! I'm a tough torbie girl who is a great protector of my sister, Avon. My foster mom says I'm a "Hiss then Kiss" kind of girl. Let me introduce myself. Titan here, glad to meet you ! I am very strong and independent guy, but I am also very friendly and good with my siblings, other older cats ( heck just about everyone is older than me) and like dogs too! I will always ask for attention and am very playful. What more can I say other than I am Titan the perfect kitty ! Like my name sake says- I stand out because of my greatness!

UPDATE: TITAN WAS ADOPTED!!!! 😍😍😍Just like his namesake, Titan left a big impression on all of the caregivers who saw him through to this day. And, there were many! In Titans ten months of touring this planet, he has been helped by numerous people at Sheltering Hands. From Coco's house to PetSmart, our people always ensured he was given the quality time he demanded. They all remark that Titan was a big character! We're so excited for this furry friends next chapter in life, and we know that he is going to love living in his new forever home!

UPDATE: CURTIS HAS FINALLY FOUND HIS FOREVER HOME!!! 😍😎

This sweet boy has been in our care for the past year. He came to Sheltering Hands as a transfer from the county having to have surgery for perineal urethrostomy. He was intended to be a blood donor with the University of Florida Vet School, but it was discovered that Curtis had lime disease. This furry fella was off to a foster for a heavy duty antibiotic treatment. But, when Curtis returned to our onsite facility at Coco's house we saw a different side of this gentleman. He bonded quickly with another feline friend, and this cat blossomed into all that a cat can be. Despite all of the circumstances that almost saw Curtis story have a much different ending, he continued to grow until this big day finally arrived. We did everything we could to serve Curtis as his caregivers, and we are thrilled to know that he is headed to a loving home to spend his lifetime!

🥰🤩🥳UPDATE: FIV-KITTY KAYLA FINDS THE PERFECT PLACE TO CALL FOREVER! This special kitty tested positive for FIV - Feline Immunodeficiency Virus. This disease attacks the cats immune system, leaving her vulnerable to illnesses. Despite this though, our furry friends with FIV can live fairly long, healthy, and happy lives. The disease is transmitted through biting, so with the right environment and a peaceful demeanor these felines can enjoy a very normal way of life. It just takes the right person, and wow, did Kayla ever find a family fit just for her!

Kayla's new companion Diane threw her a welcoming home party, showering her new companion with love and affection. We are so grateful for the Caregiver's past, present, and now future that have provided a way for this animal to be given her best shot at happiness.

Hi, I'm Kayla, I’m so happy to be at Sheltering Hands and would be ecstatic to be part of your family. Thanks to my loving caretakers, I now have a second chance at life. I’m the most beautiful girl with magnificent calico markings. I’m exceptionally friendly and one of the first cats to greet visitors to Coco’s House. I love to snuggle in laps and purr the day away. I’m FIV+, but that doesn’t mean I can’t live a long, happy life with other cats—right now, I joyfully share a room at Coco’s House with other non-FIV+ cats. I would make a wonderful indoor companion and friend for anyone willing to give me a chance. Come visit, and I promise I will sit in your lap.

About Simone....
No one knows how long I was outside, but I was smart enough to bug a really nice lady who helped me get to Sheltering Hands. I put on my best face, pretty sad eyes, made biscuits when I was picked up and talked kitty talk to those hoomans! Boy o Boy did that do the trick, they all fell in love with me. I am just a ball of love and gratitude. I am vocal and if you call me ( but call me Sea-mone) I will meow back to you as I come running to find you. I am a girly girl I will admit, why you ask? Because I love to sit by the bathroom sink and critique you while you do your makeup and hair. When your done then it's my turn for you to brush my beautiful coat. So if you're ready for a lifetime of unconditional love, look no further than Simone- pronounced SEA-MONE! that's me !

The PAW Chili Challenge & Hub-Cat Car Show is TOMORROW!!! That means we spent today staging and preparing for the event. We have awesome chili's for the tasting, some sweet rides competing for TWENTY trophies, a mega raffle with all kinds of goodies, premium baked goods for sale, a variety of food trucks, free face painting, and for the kiddos a few inflatable play places! Hopefully our feline friend doesn't get the bounce houses first!
