🐾 Healing Helen’s Comeback Story! 🐾
Dr. O’Brien and our team are thrilled to see Helen back for her laser therapy recheck! Just a short time ago, she couldn't walk at all due to a collapsed disk. But with a focused treatment plan, including laser therapy, we’re helping Helen regain her strength and mobility. 💪

What is Laser Therapy?
Laser therapy is a non-invasive, pain-free treatment that uses light energy to stimulate cell repair and reduce inflammation. For pets like Helen, it speeds up recovery, reduces pain, and boosts healing in areas affected by injuries, arthritis, or spinal issues. 🌈

How Laser Therapy Helps Helen:

Reduces inflammation and discomfort
Improves blood flow to injured areas
Promotes tissue repair and nerve healing
With each session, Helen’s mobility and strength are improving, bringing her closer to a full recovery. 🎉 Seeing her progress is why we love what we do!

If your pet struggles with pain or mobility issues, ask us about laser therapy and other healing options we offer at Maricamp Animal Hospital. We’re here to help your pets live their best, healthiest lives! 🐕💖

There are many myths about heartworm—don’t let misinformation put your pet at risk.

💙 Myth: "Only older pets are at risk of heartworms."
💚 Fact: Heartworm disease can affect pets of any age. Puppies as young as 6-8 months can develop heartworm if they are bitten by an infected mosquito and aren’t on prevention.
💙 Myth: "Indoor pets don’t need heartworm prevention."
💚 Fact: Indoor pets are still at risk because mosquitoes can enter homes, making it essential for even indoor-only pets to receive year-round prevention.
💙 Myth: "Heartworms are only a concern in the summer."
💚 Fact: Mosquitoes can remain active in warmer climates like Florida year-round, so heartworm prevention must be consistent.

Get the facts and protect your pets with 15% off heartworm tests this October!

Surprising but true—cats can get heartworm too! Even indoor cats are at risk since mosquitoes can get indoors. While heartworm disease is less common in cats than in dogs, it can still be deadly for felines. Cats can develop heartworm-associated respiratory disease, which can lead to respiratory failure.

Even indoor cats are at risk because mosquitoes can enter homes, making heartworm testing and prevention critical for all cats.

Coughing, fatigue, and weight loss could be signs of heartworm disease. 🐾 Pay attention to your pet’s health and act fast.

Early signs of heartworm disease include lethargy, coughing, reduced appetite, and weight loss. As the disease progresses, symptoms can become more severe, including heart failure and respiratory issues.

Since symptoms often appear late in the disease, testing is the only way to catch heartworms early and prevent serious health problems.

Even if your pet is on heartworm prevention, yearly testing is essential to catch any potential risks early. A small step today can prevent big problems tomorrow.

Heartworm preventatives are highly effective but not 100% foolproof. In rare cases, pets can still become infected if a dose is missed or medication isn’t properly absorbed.

Yearly testing ensures that any potential heartworm infection is detected early, preventing complications like heart failure and lung disease.

Here’s Maverick with his momma... and Amanda! 😅 🐾 Recently, he came in after a dog fight, and today he’s back to get his sutures removed. Dog fight wounds can be risky because they often introduce bacteria deep into the tissue, leading to infections. That’s why we sent a culture to the lab to ensure Maverick was on the best antibiotics for his recovery. We’re happy to see he’s healing well! 🩺 Mom was so grateful she brought us a treat. We truly appreciate clients like her! 💙

👉 If your pet is ever injured, make sure to get a proper checkup. Infection can spread fast!

Heartworm disease is preventable! 🩺 Understanding how heartworms spread and how to protect your pet is crucial for their long-term health.

- Heartworms are transmitted through the bite of an infected mosquito, which transfers microscopic larvae into the bloodstream.
- Over several months, these larvae mature into adult worms that live in the heart and lungs, potentially causing organ damage and death.
- Prevention works by killing larvae before they mature, and annual testing ensures your pet is free from infection.
