Each Team has a Crating Area & is encouraged to decorate. So this year, our theme was Summer Fun! 🌞

Pippin had a lot of fun in our Photo Op SetUp!

Pat was so shocked & excited, when they called Pippa’s name for 3rd Place, that I had to get a pic!

Ace made friends (& fans) wherever he went. 💙

After the 1st day, Sarny, Lir & Roo were happy to hit the sheets.

Willow did some of her resting in a chair in the stands. 💤

Fender still had enough energy to play tug!

And a good time was had by all! 😊🐶

I have been remiss in posting about our HDTC Team’s spectacular showing at DACOF - the Dog Agility Competition of Florida.

We took a partial Team of 7 Handlers & 8 Dogs. Because our more experienced Dogs didn’t attend, none of the Dogs on the Team had ever competed at an AKC Trial. At DACOF, you can only enter a total of 3 at each level. So 5 of our 8 Dogs & Handlers had to compete at a much higher level than they should. So very brave!

Our Team consisted of…

Angie Byrne w/ Pippin
Me (Georgia Thomas) w/ Willow (standing)
Pat McKinney w/ Pippa
Chrissy Hollnagel w/ Roo
Tanya Russell w/ Ace
Shannon Schreiner w/ Lir

Fender (Border Collie), Pippa (Toy American Shepherd) & Ace (Pit Bull) competed in Novice!
Willow (Border Collie), Roo (Collie/Shepherd Mix) & Lir (Portuguese Water Dog) competed in Open!!
And Sarny (Pembroke Welsh Corgi) & Pippin (Border Collie) competed in Excellent/Masters!!!

I am so proud of our HDTC Team! They exhibited the utmost in sportsmanship, enthusiastically helped each other (as a true Team should) & ran their talented Dogs with joy! This Team of Newbies put their skills to good use & even managed to earn Placements!

Pat & Pippa earned 3rd Place in both Time2Beat & FAST!
Chrissy & Roo earned 3rd in Jumpers!
And America earned 2nd Place in Junior Handlers (w/ Sarny) & 3rd Place Junior Handler (w/ Fender)!

We could not have competed without Chrissy’s daughters, Lizzie & Julia, doing a remarkable job as DACOF Volunteers.

All of my Students exceeded my expectations! Can’t wait to do it again next year!

When you hear those funny names like "Saint Bernewf" or "Cock-a-Poo", remember that these are NOT "breeds" of dogs, but are a marketing gimmick to sell them to uninformed individuals.

By crossing 2 breeds, it will not eliminate health issues and may even amplify or create new problems.

Remember that each breed has a specific purpose and reason for the characteristics and temperament that you see. There are some exceptions for intentional crosses but these don't come with funny names and are often bred for specific working needs.

Think carefully before you buy and don't fall for marketing gimmicks.

Congratulations to Angie & Pippin who had a busy & successful Agility Weekend! In the Friday Trial they earned a Q & 1st Place in both Level 1 Standard & Wildcard! (They have now earned their Level 1 Standard Title.). They also got 1st Place in Jumpers. Yesterday, this team earned their 1st Q & 1st Place in Jumpers! Well done! 😊🐶

This is the first dog l ever trained to do
Flyball - "Christie" - CH Chimo's Cover Girl v Thavern CDX FD CGC TDI. My fellow flyball enthusiasts might be fascinated by this box (our first) - it had a pedal on the front that the dog had to hit. The ball was launched by a cup on a throwing arm. (It's a wonder it didn't put the dog's eye out.) This photo is from around 1988 - 36 years ago.
