Patient of the Week: 💚Cotton💚

Cotton was with us for a surgery to remove one of his eyes, called an enucleation. Cotton had a cataract in his right eye, and the lens slipped forward out of place and was sitting just behind the cornea. Cotton lost vision in that eye and the lens luxation was quite painful, so we elected to remove the eye to prevent any further discomfort. Cotton recovered well from surgery, and should be back to normal cat activities in no time!

✨️Patient of the Week✨️

Meet “Pickle”! Pickle came in this week for vomiting, lethargy and trembling/shaking at home. After a full physical exam, abdominal x-rays and bloodwork, we diagnosed Pickle with pancreatitis. Similar to in humans, pancreatitis is inflammation of the pancreas, which can cause vomiting, diarrhea, dehydration, weakness/lethargy, appetite changes and abdominal pain in dogs. Pickle stayed with us for the day for some in-hospital treatments, including fluid therapy, nausea and pain medications, and she was sent home with some more medications for continued supportive care at home. Pickle was already feeling better by the time she left us the same afternoon, and we hope she is on her way to a full recovery!

But, not everyday is all puppies and kittens as much as we would like it to be… We have some really tough days here in the hospital, so please be patient and kind! Not just to the doctors, but to the entire staff. We all work so hard everyday, and our #1 goal is to help you and your pets!

✨️Patient of the Week✨️
Ava came to us this week to have a cystotomy, a surgical procedure to remove stones from the bladder. These stones are rock-like formations of mineral that develop in the urinary bladder and can cause complications such as blood in the urine and difficulty urinating. There are different types of bladder stones and we can usually diagnose them with radiographs. Ava’s surgery went well and all the bladder stones were removed. She was kept cozy during recovery, cuddling her teddy bear before going home🥰
