How can bodywork help you achieve your riding goals for 2025?
Simply put; sore, tight, or restricted muscles can decrease joint range of motion. When one joint begins to suffer, horses develop compensation patterns... those compensation patterns lead to difficulty picking up leads, trouble bending, head tossing, crookedness, general unhappiness to do their job, etc.
This then leads to rider frustration, poor performance, and worst case scenario; lamess further down the road due to improper loading of joints, tendons, and ligaments.
Is one bodywork session a fix all? Definitely not. Prevention is continuous. Rehab can take weeks to months.
However, improving neurofascial connection and proprioception throughout the body can be achieved in MINUTES. Thus, bodywork is an excellent first step to achieving optimal performance and meeting new goals!

I had my personal massage therapist tell me the other day, "we don't realize how restricted we are or how much pain we're in; until it's gone."
Then, when it is gone, you are more motivated, happy, and more active... the list goes on!
How does this apply to your horse?
Do they seem sore or tense? Maybe a change in attitude or motivation? Have they been STRESSED lately? Because oh my, that will make your body react and hold onto tension patterns without realizing it!
Jason VonGerichten, an instructor at the Soma Institute, writes “Sports Massage, at its essence, is a way for athletes to reconnect with their bodies, to put aside all other worries and simply focus on being their best….it is very clear to anyone who has ever played a sport, run a race or even just played darts in a bar that if your mind is distracted you will not be as competitive.”
Whether we realize it or not, our brain is having to process and work through those tension and pain patterns corrupting the brain pathway to optimal performance!
Routine bodywork can be such an incredible addition to your horses' program. It truly has an endless list of benefits that I would be glad to share with you and your equine partner!
