This dog was found by Ocean City Police shortly after midnight on August 1st. She was tied to a bench in front of our shelter with a note stating they could no longer care for her.

Why are so many people dumping their pets?

If we say we love them so much, then why are people dumping animals at a record pace!? This is the 4th dog that has been dumped in our shelter in just the last 30 days and very sadly, our story is not very unique. Just talk to anyone at shelters in Atlantic, Cape May, Gloucester, Cumberland, Salem,etc, etc, Counties.

People are dumping these animals like never has been seen before and we think WE as a society need to try to wrap our heads around it and figure out what the heck is going on.

We have the full video here on our shelter cameras. Not really to shame but just to show how impactful and sad to see this poor dog being tied to a bench and left in the dark, all the while looking to see where her person went. Ugh, how very sad.

It's hard to believe that next Tuesday is the final show in our 2024 Children’s Theatre Series.

Inspired by The New York Times best-selling author John O’Hurley’s book The Perfect Dog, Sam, a twelve-year-old perfectionist, searches for a flawless dog to enter the town’s dog contest. Unable to find a canine that measures up, Sam must resort to training the family dog, Max, who is less than eager to obey commands. In the end, Sam and Max learn that there is no such thing as perfect, but there is such a thing as being perfect for each other.

In a special collaboration, $1.00 from every ticket sold will be donated to the Humane Society of Ocean City

Show time is 10:30 am on Tuesday, July 30th. Tickets are $11 in advance and $13 on the day of the show.

Porter was feeling pretty down after being returned back to the shelter. It was not his fault and the current owner's life situation made them unable to care for him any longer.

De'Anna, our shelter manager was feeling bad for the big boy, so we decided to take him to Dunk'n on our way back to get him a pup cup and help lift his spirits. It is true that ice cream does make everything better, but unfortunately, only for a little while.

Thank you to Officer DeAnna, OC Public works and all the concerned residents and visitors who helped put this Mommas ducks back in a row. 💟🏖🥰🦆🦆🦆🦆🦆🦆

"The" Humane Society of Ocean City Animal Control and Public Works of Ocean City were on a rescue mission today to help a momma duck. Six of the momma ducks babies fell into a storm drain and were scared, lost, and in desperate need of help. A pedestrian thankfully heard the ducklings calling for their mother and reached out to animal control for help. With a good amount of time, effort, and patience, ACO De'Anna and Public Works were able to reunite this momma duck with all of her ducklings.
