Spay & Neuter! ‼️‼️‼️

Now that we’ve had a day to regroup after our huge surgery day….

This is Sapphire, who only came into rescue Saturday, and we discovered she was pregnant during intake. She had a vet appointment, originally scheduled for today, but decided she wasn’t going to let the surgery kittens get all the attention Wednesday, and ended our busy day with a late night delivery of six very premature/nonviable kittens. I’ll spare the details, but it was very stressful & traumatic for her (& me). She was panicking like no kitten I’ve ever seen in labor before (yes, she’s still technically a kitten). The only way she would keep calm was laying in my lap, which is where she insisted she needed to be. So that’s where I let her deliver them…she tried so hard to clean/help them, despite them being stillborn. I kept her babies with her throughout delivery to give her the opportunity to grieve losing them. 💔
She’s now recovering well & will have her spay surgery very soon so she will never have to endure this again!

Kittens having kittens is terrible.
Absolutely nothing about it is cute or necessary…
PLEASE SPAY & NEUTER YOUR PETS! AND IF YOU TAKE CARE OF STRAYS, PLEASE SPAY & NEUTER THEM AS WELL! THERE ARE GRANTS, ORGANIZATIONS, PROGRAMS & HELP AVAILABLE! PLEASE!!!
