Peach update: For all who have been helping/ following to bring Peach home, she has passed. RIP Peach. 🍑 💔

R.I.P. Peach 💔

We are heartbroken to share the news that our beloved Peach was hit by a car last night and has passed away. Our hearts are shattered. We hoped with all our hearts to bring her back to safety and to the people who love her.

We cannot thank our volunteers and Peach’s Army enough for their tireless efforts in trying to bring our girl home safe and sound. Your support has meant everything to us. Thank you to everyone who shared on social media, hung flyers, went door to door, and did everything possible to find her.

We will be removing the flyers as soon as possible. If you come across any, we kindly ask that you take them down if you are able. Your help and support during this time have been deeply appreciated.

Somewhere behind all that fur is Gus’s gorgeous, sweet face 🐶. Gus was in our puppy kindergarten program, but we are working on some additional training in his home environment to help him learn to greet guests a little less enthusiastically 👋🏻 , walk a bit calmer on leash 🦮 and maybe not jump on the couch uninvited 🛋️ . With some practice, consistency, and delicious treats , Gus will be a pro before you know it 🍪.

Today we met up with Charlie and his mom to address major pulling when he is on his way to his favorite place, THE BEACH! Once his harness and leash were on he would pull his mom across the street and all the way to the beach. We began implementing a heel position using string cheese as the motivator and as you can see, Charlie hasn’t pulled once! Charlie is now learning a new skill and we are also creating a new conditioned emotional response to his harness and leash. 🐾Can you believe there are many Therapy Dog programs out there who use and allow outdated, punitive training methods and equipment? At Sugar Paws Dog Training, we NEVER use force, fear, intimidation or pain to train any of our clients dogs. We ALWAYS use force free, reward based methods. All of these future therapy dogs have been trained without the use of painful prong or shock collars or “leash corrections”. You can see how effective reward-based methods are and how happy the humans and dogs are as a result.
